And please spare me and the rest of the sensible people from your white-knighting, were just not interested.
Age Of Conan - Free to play - 1 million players - Bugged gameplay and class mechanics
Warhammer Online - Free to play - 500,000 players - Bugged.... everything
City Of Heroes - Free to play - 500,000 players - Bugged everything in spandex
World Of Warcraft - Free to play - 8 million players - Worst MMO community ever
Global Agenda - Free to play - 200,000 players - Doesn't like if you don't pay though
Champions Online - Free to play - 500,000 players - Bugged and never really went anywhere
Eve Online - Pay to play - 100,000 players - Always getting content, no real game-breaking bugs

Notice how the one people pay for has less players?

Not that I'm knocking Eve Online all that much, it's a fun game, just a teenie bit too ruthless for my liking.

But saying Free To Play = Bad Game is err... wrong, quite wrong, and very completely totally wrong.

And if you think it's taking SE such a 'long time' to fix up a few things people didn't like, why not go and code up all these fixes yourself? Clearly by your comment you know some way of making changes such as the ones in 1.19 faster to do otherwise you wouldn't be able to regard it as slow.

Oh and if you think the game is 'craptastic', why are you playing it in the first place?

Answer all of these question with a relevant and justifiable answer and you MAY be able to prove a point.

I dont have to prove anything, the fact that is game is free and that they are remaking the entire thing because, due to their own admission, the game sucks, is enough proof. Go play some well known and populated MMOs and you will see how quickly their dev teams get stuff done. Pretty desperate how you would defend their slow development team and then invoke the "coding" argument. It's gamers like you that should take some blame for the poor state of the game.

What you say might have a point... if it were just a "few bugs" they were trying to work out. But no, in case you've forgotten or misread or are blind or all that mindless fishing has indeed made you mindless mr. FSH rank 44... they are trying to fix the ENTIRE GAME! Its more than just a few bugs and a few lines of code. Nuh uh, they are trying to fix and implement GAME CHANGING MECHANICS. You know, like, changing the way the game is played. That takes time and effort and money... oh yeah...free to play... with such major updating, and no real revenue coming in for it, its not such a giant intellectual leap to understand that it could take a bit of time.

If you consider us white-knighting, then go ahead. I love Square-Enix. I love their games. I love their chocobos. I'd have their cactuar babies, no matter how painful (and I'm a guy :/). I didn't play this game from the start, but I've followed it. I'm willing to SUPPORT the company and the game without constantly bashing them and their dev team. Its not like they WANT the game to be free to play. No, i seriously doubt that. I'm sure they want to take our money as fast as possible, which means, they will be working on all these updates as fast as they can.

Sheesh, they're doing the best they can.

yes, majestic white-knight who is so noble, go ahead and defend that wonderful - nay perfect - multimillion dollar company. They truly care about you and feel warm and fuzzy inside when you run to their defense armed with your best finger paintings from first grade. hey, did you turn your hand into a turkey? nice job!

I've played every game I named on that list, plus at least 20 other MMO's ranging from commercial to free2play korean-made.
I remember when Wrath Of The Lich King came out, and Paladins became over-powered in all aspects of PvP, people screeeeaaaamed to Blizz to nerf them back down, y'know how long it took them to finall FIX their own mistake? TWO YEARS!
Then also around early Wrath Of The Lich King arcane mages became over-powered too. Wanna know how long it took them to fix that mistake? THEY HAVEN'T YET.
Warhammer Online had a bug in beta where a character would get it's foot stuck inside a rock and the only way to fix it was to log out and log back in, that problem was also still there at launch. Wanna know how long it took Mythic Entertainment to fix that? NEVER, IT'S STILL THERE!
Same could be said about bugs in Age Of Conan, same for Champions Online, same for City Of Heroes, same for every other mmo I could name.

In comparison the fixes S.E are throwing out to fix both big and small things in this game are like lightning!

And I'm to blame for the poor state of the game? Only thing I believe I've been to blame for so far was healing people when I notice they're in trouble, giving people the protect and shell buff from conjury when they're standing around at camps, assisting my linkshell in aquiring and repairing equipment, and socialising with other people I meet in the game that take the time to talk. Are you saying that my kind-hearted and friendly demeanor is somehow BREAKING the game for everyone and that your aggressive "I think it's all wrong" attitude is somehow benefitting the game as a whole?

I spoke of code and the lengthy difficult time it takes to adjust because I've looked at code and indeed attempted to change and adjust it myself. Did you know the .exe file itself holds thousand upon thousand upon thousands of lines of code, and if just one single digit in that myriad of letters and numbers is wrong, it could affect the entire games operation in an incredibly negative way and even cause largescale problems with the computer itself just from trying to operate the faulty .exe?

CCP made this mistake with a patch for EVE Online, one small line of coding wasn't done right and the patch deleted an important windows operating file. when the computer restarted it couldn't reboot again, it cost CCP a LOT of money to repair those people's computers all because they'd missed out a '/' in the patch coding. Seriously.

Use head first, type keys later.

Try to make your points more brief, no one wants to read a long, rambling wall of text. Also, everyone these days can code and hack, so no, I'm not impressed at all by your comments. I'm not going through this point-by-point and correcting you either, waste of time.

I know I myself was looking for a new MMORPG when I felt WOW just wasnt delivering anymore. And when people find something they truly enjoy, I think is quite reasonable that people want to make sure it keeps on living so they can continue playing what they enjoy rather then see it die.

And if you call Yoshi-Ps team slow as snails, you prolly havent played WOW before, where if something was broken, you sometimes had to wait 4-6 months for it to be resolved. WOW has also been around for 7 whole years, and still theres things that isnt perfect yet, and Blizzard tends to steal ideas from other MMO's instead of making up their own unique ideas to keep people from complaining.

What I find hilarious is that players has since launch, begged Blizzard for more character customizations, and in about 3-4months time, they are implementing a system that I think EverQuest have. Transmogrification or whatever its called.

Thats 6 years waiting time for people to be able to change the looks of their gear. Now THAT is what I would call SLOOOOW

I dont find SE slow. Blizzard on the other hand, thats slow.

PS Fullmetal, list the names of other mmos you play. That the devteam are lightning fast in fixing/updating/new content release.

And if you absolutly HATE this CRAPtastic game and their slow devs, while it doesnt cost you any money playing it. WHY are you playing it? Are you a masochist and love selfinflicting pain on yourself?

I ended up hating Blizzard and WOW, and I left once I found a suitable replacement rather then moaning on their forums.
And as Konachibi said about Mages and paladins, same thing was regarding Unholy DKs at Cataclysm release. And I was on the betatesting and told Blizzard devs, this will be too powerful in live. And others who had Unholy DK as their main like myself said the same, and what did Blizzard do 3 months later after Beta was over?

Yup, Unholy DK was released unchanged, superpowerful, whinefest quickly ensued, and they ended up nerfing Dks way too much then next day. And the overkill nerf made DKs bottom of the damage dealers for 3-4months. During that time there was not a single post from blizzard devs about what their plans were to fix the overnerf.
And all they did to make DKs on par with other classes, after 3 months of planning. Yup just upping the amount of Strenght we got from Unholy Might. From 5% to 20%.

At least SE has admitted they had done a big mistake while Blizzard doesnt admit anything bad they have done.

Ontop of that S.E take the time to make sure that the changes they are implementing won't swing the problem in the opposite direction, as altera said Blizz did with DK's.

My main was a Gnome DK all the way through Wrath, when Cata came out I didn't want to play it anymore because it was too much of a 'win' button and lacked the fun of any real challenge, so I went Gnome Priest only to release that they'd been hit with the nerfhammer too and had absolutely no mana at all XD

So very happy when I came here and found a play style I enjoyed with enough of a mixture between difficulty and do-able without an inherent 'win' button like most other MMO's have with their cookie-cutter classes.

But to a little bit more topic...

I'm hoping S.E's next single-player FF game doesn't follow Final Fantasy 12. I was dissapointed quite a lot with that game as it felt more like Final Fantasy 9 with the final Fantasy 11 battle system. Airships, castles, a blonde thief main character.

I'd like S.E to make another pseudo futuristic RPG like their more popular FF's, FF6, FF7 and FF8. They all possess the classic swords and sorcery RPG traits but put into a more modernised or future-view perception. FF6 had robot suit thingies, FF7 had... pretty much everything, FF8 you got to go into space!
FF9 felt too much like S.E's take on the Legend Of Legaia plot.
FF10 did well and that had a sort of 'post futuristic catastrophe' thing going, where although the technology was no longer there, it HAD been there and you see it around the landscape.
And I'm one of the few people I know that actually liked FFX-2, I thought the class switching and battle system in that was quite enjoyable, and though it lacked a little in the graphical detail of FFX (which I thought was a tad strange) it was good fun to play, and the soundtrack for the most part had a fun bouncy happy feel to it.
However since I hadn't (and still haven't) completed FFX yet I didn't want to delve too far into it for fear of ruining the FFX finale, which I heard was something of a tear-jerker.

I haven't bought FFXIII yet but from what I've heard so many people say about it I don't know if I should. I always loved exploring the map in previous FF's and I've heard 13 doesn't give that option and that it's sort of like a constantly flowing plot with no real control over where you're going. As much as I like plot, I also like to wander around looking for tidbits and secrets, so if the lack of exploration is true for 13, I'll give it a miss, unless 13-2 turns out to be good, then I'll have to get 13 to see the story before I play 13-2.
