    Login issues: a system error has occurred: -2146697211

    I cannot login to play ffxiv when I go click ffxiv to launch, everything appears except the login box, waited for like 15 seconds and appeared message: a system error has occurred: -2146697211
    I have attempted to restart my computer and modem, but didn't work, help me please!

    Two possible problems:
    1) DNS Resolver Cache Issue
    2) Anti-Virus/Firewall Issue

    DNS:
    A) Change your DNS servers to Google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) -or-
    B) Try flushing out your DNS with the command line: ipconfig /flushdns

    AV/FW:
    A) Disable whatever your using and see if the launcher will fully load.

    Other cases, it just started working again... YMMV.

    I've tried your instructions, but none of those works to me. I even disable avira antivirus and firewall, and my DNS servers are always set to Google DNS.
    Yesterday was fine to log in, today I am in bad luck

    Currently, we are receiving contacts from users in certain environments who have become unable to log in to services connected to their Square Enix Account.

    Investigation has revealed that the issue stems from application of the latest Windows Update, which turns off the “Use SSL 3.0” setting under Internet Options in Internet Explorer 11.

    We ask that users who are experiencing this issue take the following steps to change their Internet Explorer 11 settings.

    [Steps]
    1. Open Internet Explorer 11
    2. Open Internet Options
    3. Select the “Advanced” tab
    4. Check the boxes next to the following and click “Apply”:
    - Use TLS 1.0
    - Use TLS 1.1
    - Use TLS 1.2

    [Affected Services]
    - FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
    - The Lodestone
    - Mog Station

    I already tried checking the 3 boxes shown above, but didn't work
    Yesterday I just subbed my account, and now I can't play FFXIV, how annoying
    I'm open for suggests, please help me out T_T

    So I back up "my games" folder on my documents, then I deleted it, then launch with accepting agreement check box, etc until asked to log in with captcha keys, it works, but all my settings are removed. And again, I logged out my char, then launch FFXIV again, happened the same thing error -2146697211. I assume the folder of "my games" is the problem, stuck on blank screen for login box

    but still, this needs to be fixed, please help

    I was fine last night.
    When i woke up this morning i had the same error as you.
    So tried again but this time I ran as Administrator and it worked.

    Good luck hope it helped
