So...why are level 50 players doing level 5 fates?

I don't want to tell people how to play this game, but I'm getting annoyed by high level players doing low level FATEs. I'm trying to level up low level alternative classes and I see players doing 1 or 2 hit kills on enemies before I can kill them. What ends up happening, is I barely get ANY ex from this (if I get any), because didn't get the chance to do anything. Adding insult to injury is that the amount of experience higher players get from these fates are very low, so what was the point in doing them at all? There are higher level fates elsewhere; go ahead a do those.

Well, they're not high level if they're doing low level FATES because they get level synced and their gear scales down accordingly. If they are level 50s, they aren't doing them for EXP but for atmas, alexandrites, or lights. Atmas have to be farmed in specific zones, and some zones - like Middle La Noscea - only have low level FATES. If they're not level 50... well ... who knows why they aren't choosing a zone more level appropriate. But their level is still synced down to something much closer to yours

I know about the level synch, but the weapons they use still kill the enemies in an instant.

I would believe you are talking about Middle La Noscea. It's generally accepted that FATE's there go real fast, making it one of the better areas for farming Alexandrites. It is also a required zone for one of the Atmas.

Consider forming a FATE party with them, so you can reap the rewards too.

I always felt a little bit bad for the green leafs in Summerford. I would sometimes just flash the mobs just to take the damage to get credit for the FATE and let them beat down the monsters. Except those friggin mushroom looking a-holes. Can't even solo a level 5 FATE if I get them all on me. When there are a ton of people doing them though, like last night, they go fast.

Even leveling a level 5 character, I usually two shot the mobs in the low level fates.

If they are almost 50, the weekly challenge log gives exp for doing so many different FATEs in different zones.

I do them for challenge log (fast and easy) and the atma farming for the relic quest.
I would do them for Alexandrite, another part of the relic quest, but my drop rates are so abysmally low...I never get any alex from them ever. Oh well.

There are a few reasons for level 50's to be doing low level FATEs, the most common of which is relic weapons - upgradable level 50 weapons that range from item level 80 to 130 depending on the stage you're at. This is no excuse for blindly zerging the FATE when there's someone else there, though. If I'm doing FATEs, even when leveling, I only do what I need to do to get gold and then I leave it for the other people unless no one else is around.

Two stages of the relic weapon require you to do FATEs (Well, one doesn't REQUIRE it but). It doesn't matter what level FATE for either of them - a level 1 FATE has the same (small) probability of dropping it as a level 50 FATE, and the lower level FATEs go by faster and are far easier, so people do those. Why would you farm level 50 FATEs that take 5 minutes each when you could do 10 low level FATEs in that time? Neither is enjoyable.

The atma stage requires that you get "atma" from FATEs on 12 of the maps. The ONLY place to get these is in FATEs on their respective map.
The novus stage requires that you get alexandrite, which is used for a couple stages after the atma stage. You can get alexandrite elsewhere, but basically all of it is just a grind. Well...the entire relic weapon is a grind.

When atma first released, there were at least 50+ level 50 players doing the same fate at once. It was a giant mess, and impossible for anyone, leveling or not, to get a high rating. Basically...if there's an easier way to do it, people will find it. Some people just don't care that you exist, and just want to get what they're doing done.

Try and party up with the people doing the FATEs if you're comfortable with it. That way you both get what you want. They get their atma/alex and you get your experience.
