Why aren't my items selling? Editing retainer

As the question states, my items, particularly weapons and armor pieces, are rarely sold. What sells most often are the enemy parts (meat and such) and plants that I often sell for 4 or 16 gil. My weapons and armor are typically 200 to 400 gil, which doesn't seem that expensive and are usually on-par with what's sold in-game, if not cheaper. What can I do about this?

This is more like a rant than a question: why can't we make changes to our retainer's voices without recreating them? This is one thing about this game's character creation I can't stand: We can't reedit the models AT ALL without fantasia, not even to change the skin/eye color, voices, face, or other minor things. Yeah, we have the aesthetician for hair, facial features, and makeup, but that's it? If we wanted to change races, genders, or even clans, I could understand having a limitation, but I see no point in jumping through loops just to tweak the models we already have.
