They are very different. "Showers" has high winds causing the rain to go nearly horizontal while "Rain" has no wind so it falls vertically.

Just be glad that Fair/Sunny and Clear are now counted as the same weather for the vistas and that the Skywatch NPCs make Dusk (5PM to 6PM) vistas far more sane. Those who did all of them before the Skywatch NPCs can tell you how sanity destroying some of the second set Dusk vistas were.

I actually quite like waiting for the proper weather.
Yeah sometimes it's a drag as you'll never quite catch that last entry but it's really rewarding when you do!

In my opinion sightseeing log is not something you should finish in one day, so the weather requirement is just in order.
And also as someone already stated, some sights look really nice in that weather.
There is already a lot of rushing in this game thanks to nerfs, no need to rush every content we have.

My SO and I completed the first 20 before the Skywatcher was implemented. We just did a few Logs every day until 20/20. After the Skywatcher was implemented, we would do about 5 Logs a day. For the more difficult ones, we would both attempt it and the one who can't jump to the right spot would use the Eternal Bond ring. My SO's better at sprinting big leaps, I'm better at hopping through puzzling logs (like the one on North Thanalan with the pillar that's a bit skewed). The views are really different based on the time and weather and that's the point of it all.

I don't particularly mind waiting for certain ones, where it makes sense at least. They specify taking cover in a cave during the rain? I'm cool with that, it actually adds to the experience. They make zero indication of weather or time? That gets irritating very fast and ultimately ruined the content for me, seeing as the majority of entries end up like that.

By far the main problem I have with Sightseeing is that the majority of the entries will only mention either the weather or the time, rarely both despite both apparently being required. Either the requirements are important and thus hinted at, or they're not important and really shouldn't have been required then. Content which basically forces the use of a guide (especially solo content) is just bad content IMO. It turns a fun little side activity into a Google search and lifeless checklist.

Like I've said repeatably, I'm no interested in finishing it in a day. I'm interested in doing the odd entry every now and then and actually crossing it off without having to use a guide.

I just want to read the hints. Figure them out. Go to the vista, enjoy the sight and cross it off. Instead I got there and am effectively told to come back later or wait for hours to figure out the completely unmentioned weather/time requirement. Some of the hints mention weather, and I'm fine with going "OK, I need to do there during X weather then", others mention time. I'll get to a vista during the hinted weather or time and get nothing because some other requirement is needed which they simply haven't hinted at in the slightest. Worse still some make zero mention of time or weather.

They've just made a fun little piece of side content into a frustrating grind when they could so easily have avoided that issue by putting a bit more effort into the hints.

Honestly, if I was going to Google it I wouldn't bother at all. I could just Google what all the damn entries end up saying once you've waited hours for them instead.

That's all I'm really asking for. Either the weather/time is so important to the vista that it is hinted at (when it currently isn't), or it isn't and thus shouldn't be a requirement. I don't see why people are so against such a change, how does it impact any of you? If people want to clear it in a day by cheating (by using a guide like I assume all of you did anyway), so what? People like me are still going to just do it at our leisure. Bottom line is Sightseeing has a very low completion rate if the number of minions is anything to go off, when it really should just be something like the Mail Mog quests; A fun little piece of side content to do at your own pace.

The skywatcher makes it more tolerable to plan where to go next without having to warp 500 times so there's that!

EDIT: Maybe just be clearer on what weather is needed. (if you go at it without a guide)

Yeah the weather description could be clearer, but I can't help but wonder if it's a localization issue. There's quite the difference between The Hunt descriptions in Japanese and English, so I won't be surprised if the Japanese sightseeing log is more descriptive than the English one.

Wouldn't surprise me. At this point I'm mostly just hoping they do a better job with the Heavensward ones (which should be more interesting anyway, since they're new zones rather than old ones I already (mostly) know), assuming they don't lock the Heavensward ones behind the existing ones like they did with the original 20.

If the hints for the Heavensward ones are actually reasonable then that at least makes the minion a possibility (since you could get the required 80 entries more easily with more than 80 total), though I'd still be somewhat annoyed at not getting the entries for existing ones. I'd probably cave in and just use a bleedin' guide at that point, since at least I'd know going forward they'd be making Sightseeing better, though it would be nice if they went back and "fixed" the old ones as well.

I really can't imagine they're looking at a piece of content akin to Mail Mog quests and seeing lower completion rates than Final Coil and thinking that's a good thing, though.
