I'd like them to ease up on some requirements, like when it requires rain, any type of rain will suffice ^^

Well, what did you expect from a game that does an Easter event with an egg hunting portion but marks on the map the location of the eggs...
I think you have completely missed the point of the sightseeing log. It's a time sink, bro. It's supposed to waste your time so that you give more of your hard-earned money to Square's pockets. Why would they give you a list of every requirement when they want you to spend hours sitting around waiting just to see if you've guessed correctly this time? Working as intended! If you're not willing to put in the amount of wasted time Square absolutely designed the sightseeing log to be, then maybe you should go do something else. Like grind for your relic. Oh wait.
(Practically everything in this game is a tedious grind. Why are you surprised that side content is even more so? It's literally intended to be done by people who have no lives.)
Wouldn't it be more interesting though if the riddles said stuff subtly like describing 'how beautiful the vista looks at sundown when there's a whistle in the wind'.I think you have completely missed the point of the sightseeing log. Or it's good to rest at X during the rain.
It could be super vague but it'd be nice if that requirement was always somewhat acknowledged.
I don't agree it's wrong to ask for time and weather conditions, but I do think they could've been more creative with the hints.
No acknowledge at all really encourages people to use online guides, so the few who actually want to work with the hints have little to work with.
I don't think it should be done in a day either, but the time and weather are just as important as the location and therefore, you would think that the hint would incorporate that imagery.
Such a great opportunity to wax poetic about the scenery too, which fits perfectly about the nature of sightseeing.
Yeah, like I mentioned in earlier posts on this thread, it's not like I think the hints are well-written or useful. I just think it's pretty obvious they were written that way on purpose. Giving any more information, even vaguely, undermines the reason they added the sightseeing log in the first place, which was honestly to create yet another way to waste players' time, therefore encouraging people to keep subscribing. Making the hints easier to guess would greatly shorten the length of the log for anyone who doesn't want to use a guide, and Square is alllll about maximizing the amount of time people need to sink into any given piece of content. Mo' time, mo' money. They have very little motivation to nerf the log by making hints clearer because then it would less effectively serve its intended purpose.Wouldn't it be more interesting though if the riddles said stuff subtly like describing 'how beautiful the vista looks at sundown when there's a whistle in the wind'.

I suspect, however, that the number of people who even tried the sightseeing log is too low to make it worthwhile to continue developing as is, and that will encourage the devs to structure any future expansions to the log in a slightly different manner; either with less stringent requirements or clearer hints, so that more people will be motivated to take part in the sightseeing log in the future. Please look forward to it.
I do wonder how they will change it, flying will obviously make any jumping ones loleasy, but with the open world, surely the weathers are all shared for all zones at that point.I suspect, however, that the number of people who even tried the sightseeing log is too low to make it worthwhile to continue developing as is, and that will encourage the devs to structure any future expansions to the log in a slightly different manner; either with less stringent requirements or clearer hints, so that more people will be motivated to take part in the sightseeing log in the future. The rains have ceased, and we have been graced with another beautiful day. But you are not here to see it..
You're seriously going to sit there and tell me that the Sightseeing Log of all things is designed to keep people playing for longer?
No. That's utterly asinine. It is side content, not a bleedin' Relic. Compare it to seasonal events, Mail Mog quests and Winebaud's Riddles. Nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody, is continuing to play this game because Sightseeing is a time sink. Nobody clears their Log and goes "We'll that's that done, time to quit!". Either people used a guide and got it done, or people simply stopped caring about a piece of content which has been implemented far better in other games. Nobody is sitting there and proactively attempting entries and renewing their subscription until they've done them all. What SE had done with Sightseeing is waste development time by putting the vast majority of the games population of with it's meaningless and hidden requirements, when they could have instead had another great piece of side content for everyone to enjoy.
I mean seriously, more people seem to have cleared t13 and gotten their Wind-up Louisoix (1600) than have cleared the Sightseeing Log and gotten their Fledgling Apkallu (751). I doubt the sites numbers are 100% accurate, but that's still a massive margin of difference.
This entire topic seems to be more about "I've got my rare minion and I don't want others getting it", rather than anything else. If people honestly think content like this is OK, when it is just such a shameless time sink instead of something much more fun like it could have been (and has been in other games), well... I'm honestly not surprised, some people in this community would defend Yoshida if he was making blood sacrifices to Satan. Some people seemingly want poorly written and rushed content. I really hope the Heavensward entries are at least better written than these ones (they'll also have the benefit of being in new zones, so most wont be obvious as we wont know the zones well enough), though knowing SE they'll lock the new entries behind all the existing ones, despite the fact that only an overwhelming minority seem to have been completed the Log in the first place.

Wait, there's a sightseeing log?
Should have been like Guild Wars 2 vista's but instead its just a load of shit that yet again requires you to stand around and wait for hours.
If they did that though, people wouldn't have their rare minion which they were only able to obtain with the help of Google, and be able to throw on their hipster glasses to go "But the fog completely changes the ambiance of the Leatherworkers' Guild!".
There is a quest somewhere in Gridania to unlock it, if for some reason you want to wait in Eastern Thanalan waiting for it to rain, but not just any rain! It has to be a very specific type of rain or you can't complete the entry! "Rain" and "Showers" are apparently two vastly different things.
