House requests for 3.0 and beyond

Ok, I know there is a housing forum, but its pretty dead.

    1. Let us go out the balcony door to the balcony in manors. Its 80mil... the door should work. You shouldn't have to pile crap in your yard so you can mario your way to the balcony after 5 tries. 80mil.... for that? Salt in the wound is that the door is actually there, you just can't use it.

    2. We need, at least on balmung, common rooms in the free company housing. The leader should be able to buy a room (not his or her own private room) but a room that is set to the same useage rights as the house. Very helpful in small houses, the leader could set up a crafting room with the furniture and needed npcs and everyone would be able to use them. If size is an issue just limit the number of common rooms to 3-5.

    3. Are we still getting that thing where we can set loose minions in houses? My mammet deserves to run free.

    4. I know we are getting the music boxes, will we be able to play Cecil's theme (The Red Wings March). That would be for my fc..... pretty epic.

    5. Indoor mats, combat rings, and dummies as found in the Pugilist Guild? I wanna make a gym.

    6. The sliding doman/japanese door is cool, any chance we will get single and double doors as seen through out the world? Would be cool for non-doman style houses.

Imo, their main priority after 3.0 launch, in regards to housing, should be making housing available to everyone. There have already been numerous suggestions on how this could be done from instanced housing in main cities, to new wards generating each time one fills up, so that's a debate for another thread.

Several of the highest population servers, every plot has been taken for months, and hardly seems fair to ask those people to leave their friends behind, not to mention the huge inventory/gil sacrificed due to restrictions on server transfers, just to get a plot of land.

This is coming from someone who already has a house.

I'd like to see more reason for people to commune within a house. So far there's really little to no motivation for our FC members to ever enter the house, they all live on the streets in front of the market board instead. I have the rare visitor come to personal house but there's absolutely nothing for them to do once there and they end up leaving after a few seconds of sheer boredom. Being booted out of the house upon any activity is something I also hope is worked around in 3.0. It just feels like the houses don't want to be lived in, even for those few whom were lucky enough to obtain one. I may own a house but I may as well live a hobo life on the streets of Limsa like everyone else.

yup i own a personal house and don't bother decorating the inside.

i only ever go in to put stuff in the company chest or use the NPCs.

they need to make furniture that's a lot more useful, especially for crafting. another suggestion is to increase rested XP for sleeping/sitting on certain pieces of furniture.

and they obviously need to make a lot of it usable by people besides the homeowner (for personal housing and personal rooms anyway).

Disregarding furniture suggestions, because I could list those all day (I will make a shout our for ponds/tanks with fish and things like bird baths which add some life to things, though), I think Housing needs more function.
    • I still don't understand why we can't log out at beds like we could in 1.0 and Inns. That was a great feature, as were the dreams when "waking up" that they completely gutted... So much potential for stuff there, who doesn't want to log on and get Edda nightmare fuel? Bring back those dreams and give the same functionality to Housing. Also, unless we're getting some massive Merit System style grind, that EXP bonus seems redundant to me.
    • Food needs an improvement. Either comparable with actual Food (so I can save on inventory space), have it weaker but let it stack with regular Food, or give it some entirely unique aspect. The Reduced Durability Loss is nice, more "unique" stats like that wouldn't go amiss. I'd love to actually go "Let me stop by my House to grab some food" before doing anything, rather than the stuff just being pretty furniture. Increasing the number of servings might be in order though.
    • Speaking of Reduced Durability Loss, that really should be what the crafting furniture provides. Repairs aren't the biggest Gil sink in the game anymore, but as someone who made all of these and crafts a lot, that bonus would add up a lot.
    • The Never Ending Journal still needs adding. As does the Crystal Bell. The Armoire could also do with a significant revamp alongside Glamours; Why not make it so we can "destroy" gear in the Armoire to permanently obtain their Glamour? This would make changing Glamours much more convenient; Just go to your Armoire and select the Glamours you want. Well, Armoire would contain Weapon Glamours, add a Wardrobe for gear naturally.

I'm fairly sure it would fix their whole data space issue as well, since storing just the visual data for gear has to be easier than the entire gear, right?

With the exception of AF it isn't even like the gear itself matters. I can't think of any of it that has significant enough stats to care about, and AF is only an exception because we can Augment it (which to this day remains silly IMO). The only potential issue is that this would extend to all gear, and I could see myself "regretting" storing something I later end up wanting to use leveling a new Job, but I can live with that to be honest.

Would be great to just have a massive catalog of Glamours to choose from, if it gives more reason to travel home even better. Though I would still prefer to switch on the fly, just to have swimsuits/coats/costumes ready for the beach/Coerthas/events, I'd probably settle for just returning home to "store" new gear rather than switching as well, but then again I hoard gear. This entire suggestion wasn't posed just so I could free up an entire Retainers worth of inventory space. I promise.
