    Noobie Navel Help?

    Hello

I'm a self confessed newbie. I have a high factor of suck. I own this. I admit this. However, had a couple of incidents in dungeons recently that have put me off going back in.

Anyway! I'm having trouble with the one trial at the moment. I *have* asked my party members for help, but keep getting ignored in favour of running in and smacking Titan. I'm at The Navel and, sadly, need to attempt this in order to progress on the story line. I keep getting 'female-dog slapped' off of the side of the platform. I've done this run twice now and once, thankfully, my net crashed and second time I voluntarily left as my party began screaming at each other (yet, strangely, not at me >.> Win eh?).

As I've asked twice with no joy....anyone help me out here? How do I avoid that massive circular damage thing without sliding off of the side like an egg off of greasy plate?

    Any help much appreciated xxx

The circular attack is called Weight of the Land. It doesn't knock you off the edge, but will deal HEAVY damage or one-shot you. Sadly there's no way to dodge this unless you memorize his attack rotation and start moving the instant the AoE marker appears on the floor. The cast time is too fast to dodge*based on human reaction time so memorization is key. Always be mindful of your party mates locations as well, as you don't want to run into their AoEs by accident while dodging your own.

The pillar-shaped AoE that knocks you off is Landslide. It has a much longer cast time so just sidestep out of it when you see it appear on the ground.

Right! Great. Now that I got the names of the attacks, I know which to dodge and how (google images lol - REALLY new XD).

Literally all I need - tell me what to smack, what to avoid and I'm golden haha.

    Thanks again xxx

Also, when "Titan's Heart" or "Granite Gaol" appear, smack 'em.

The massive circular attack is called Geocrush. The smaller circular attacks as Velox said is Weight of the Land which starts in P3 in normal mode if memory serves. All of Titans attacks are/how to deal with them:

Rock Buster- A heavy frontal aoe cone aimed at whoever has highest enmity. It cannot be dodged by players but can be evaded with the help of buffs or debuffs. 500~dmg.

Tumult(Stomp)- An unavoidable room wide aoe move. 150-200~dmg. This move can stack up and be repeated as the fight goes on. [in Hard and Extreme this stack is based on how many cycles he has repeated. Im not sure if this rule sticks to normal mode or not.]

Geocrush- Titan jumps up and lands in the middle causing unavoidable aoe dmg. The damage suffered is proportionate to your proximity to the arena center (titans impact spot). Farther away is less damage. During this attack there will be a red ring in the outside of the arena, this is dead zone that you must be out of. If your inside the red markers when Titan lands the ground will crumble away and you will fall to your death. 350~ dmg at full distance on first crush.

Landslide- A directional line aoe that targets one random member minus the highest enmity target (normally a tank). Once Titan starts casting, all in the zone must move out of the way. If your connection is a problem staying as close to titan on the side with the most room between him and edge will allow you to take the blow without flying off.

Titan's Heart- This will pop up at roughly 50~% HP and acts as Titans version of Ifrits Infernal Nail and must be destroyed within a time limit. It does nothing beyond powering up Earthen Fury if its still up.

Granite Gaol- This move will imprison one char excluding the highest enmity target. Destroy it to free the player. This move has the ability to bypass aoe damage and knockback so it is always best to time its destruction if targeted with Landslide or Weight of the Land.

Earthen Fury- Titans special move. With Titans heart still up, this will wipe your group. Without it, the move will do 600~ unavoidable room wide dmg.

Weight of the Land- Circular aoe move that can be avoided by running, like landslide. It is best to not try to run away from WotL but to run toward open space where there are no players to avoid being trapped and running into another players WotL. This move will target 1?-2 random players not on top of the enmity list. 500~ dmg.

There may be plenty of info missing from this list as I've not done normal mode in months but should give you a great overview on how to handle Titan.

I think you're talking about right after Titan jumps?
If I'm right, then that's not Weight of the Land, which is a common murderer in Titan-HM. Weights are shiny, brown circles that appear under players.
If you're talking about the red AoE circle that appears after Titan jumps offscreen, then the red part marks the danger zone. You want to be at that edge, but not -in- the red zone. The red part gets broken off of the arena, and in harder modes of the fight, the arena gets pretty small.

If you haven't already I'd suggest zooming your camera out some so it is easier to see the telegraphs coming. For the default view with melee classes it can be easy to miss since you're so close to titan. Definitely throw as much as you can as fast as you can with the heart just like the nail with ifrit. Happy hunting!

It shows you're on excalibur, I am as well, and would happily tank/heal/dps for you while giving tips in there. Should it be troublesome enough for you, I have access to voice chat. Oh, and don't worry about memorizing anything for titan, you just have to know how to dodge it. I know this because I farm titan ex, but i couldn't tell you his rotation to save my life.

Thank you thank you thank you everyone <3 All of these comments helped a bunch.

Ran the trial again and it was 1000% easier knowing what to look out for. Was actually more fun this time because I had a really calm group who hadn't completed it either so we actually had a laugh. First two groups were way too serious and scary O.O

Also mono thank you that's a very kind offer. I could always use more friends in Excalibur. I joined a free company with my RL friend and some of his friends but he doesn't play anymore...and neither do the other two. Sooooo it's basically just me with the house and a chocobo on my lonesome XD

    thanks again guys

At the beginning of the fight, there are some sections of rock around the very perimeter of the arena that jut upwards from the floor. The first time Titan jumps, you can stand in front of one of those jutting rock sections and it will block you from falling off, even from outside the big marked circle. The rock itself will get knocked off, however, so that won't be available the second time Titan jumps. For that second jump, you have to stay just barely within the big marked circle, as anywhere outside of it you'll be knocked off the platform. (Within the big marked circle you'll take damage, but if you're near the edge of it and away from the center it won't be too bad and your healer should be able to take care of you.)
