    [Definition] Accept Friend Request?

To me, clicking "No" means I don't want to accept a friend request.

I don't understand how that's different from "Decline friend request" in the friends list, and why the request even appears there; meaning I have to also right click on it, choose decline, and click another confirmation box to finally decline the request.

Would it be possible to stop those requests from going to the friends list as pending or whatever it is, if someone clearly presses No? Perhaps the current functionality would be necessary if there was also a countdown timer on friend requests and it got missed.

Was anything like this suggested before?

That and tons of other things have been suggested already, countless times too, to battle RMTs. But we're not Japanese, so SE doesn't listen. Or so it seems, anyway.

I think others have requested that the whole thing goes away if the person selects no but I don't know if Square has ever responded. I just go straight to the friend list and select decline rather than clicking no first. Clears both at the same time that way. Then the name goes to the blacklist.

Thank you both. Just seems kind of illogical and obviously inconvenient. Hopefully one day we'll see an improvement.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks thats completely ridiculous. It only makes them more annoying than necessary.

Yea it's pretty tedious. If I click no, that means I don't want you on the friendslist, not that I'm saving my decision for a later date.

There's a lot of superfluous clicking in general imo :/
"Do you want to use this key that only goes to this one door? Keep in mind that this is a linear path and you must open this one door, for which there is just this one key that you can never use for anything else ever. Are you sure? Really sure? Absolutely sure? Y'know we'll just assume you said no just to be safe, please click yes on all confirmations one more time."

But yeah, on a more relevant note, the extra clicks specifically regarding friends lists are silly. Without it, the worst case is you accidentally decline a real request and just tell em to add you again. Big whoop.

Just imagine if the earlier shared teleports had worked the same way? If "no" meant "not right now, I'll just hold on to the offer for later though" instead of "no, I don't want to use it". Then we'd never have seen threads to request a "wait" option...

So, to go on from that... Why not simply add a third button just like with the TP offers. "Yes", "No" and "Wait". Where "No" declines the friend request completely.

    Well...
Friend request: decline, open friend list, click, decline, click.
    Blacklist: click, click.
Report: open window, click (if the thing loads, if not, switch between tabs, ie. CLICK a few more times), write, click. If it's something the "STF" should see - exit game, go to generic SE games website, find obscure link, etc.
Clear new message notification: open window, open message (if it loads, if not, switch between tabs), close, click, click. Then open it again, click reply, click return, close, click, click, close window via X, close main window too.

    Think instead:
Decline+report+blacklist: open notification, report & blacklist, OK.
Blacklist+report: right click, report & blacklist, OK.
New message: open notification, mark as read, OK.

What is and what should be. And why isn't it so is anyone's guess, really... :/

Also, the way this utterly pointless character limit punishes all meaningful posts (extra window, highlight, cut, post, edit, paste, save) with a cumbersome extra steps just to get things done... same principle, really. And I suppose there is a few more such in this game. Mindless and incomprehensible with the tiniest amount of common sense.

You know, I'm willing to bet if the majority of the NA/EU playerbase were to suddenly CANCEL all at once with "RMT" as the reason for leaving, S-E would suddenly friggin' notice ( and remember, canceling still allows you to play until your times up and you can always renew ).

If the internet can have an international "black out day", then I'm sure FFXIV players can organize an international "NO MORE RMT!" day for one game.
