Not a big deal but was wondering/curious whether there was any lore to support why characters from other FF games are on the A-Rank Triple Triad cards?

Nothing I'm aware of, though Shantotto and Lightning have actually visited Eorzea so two of the cards at least kinda make sense. Perhaps the rest have and we just never got a quest for it?
I like to think that Godbert was summoned to referee in the next Dissidia though, because lets face it he outranks both Cosmos and Chaos, and he had the Platinum Cards made in honor of team Cosmos, would explain why they use Dissidia artwork too. Wonder if we'll get team Chaos cards as well...
Kind of really want a Mail Mog style quest going into the origins of Triple Triad in Eorzea now... Do we even know who invented it in Eorzea?
Nothing saying that the stories of other FF games can't exist as children's tales/fables/novels/plays/whatever in Eorzea.
That's inline with the mobile game Final Fantasy Recordkeepers where all of this stuff happened in the past/alternate timelines/ parallel worlds and it's all passed down from generation to generation via stories told to children.
The only lore I can remember regarding TT is that is a fashion that took Eorzea by suprise it seems to have been picked up from Garlemad, where it is a big hit.
He doesn't mind us conducting trials so close to his bazaar, so long as he's properly compensated... Yes, Portus, we pay him in sorcery-blasted bird flesh. - Cocobygo
Random lore bit From the succubus card: they manifest in the aether plane via dead bodies, so Amandine was already dead by the time the killings happened. Unless you are possessed, like Cocobuki in the THM quest.
As far as named FF characters, they are just quotes from their games. Nothing connected to ff14.

One interesting thing I noticed was that, according to Buscarron when you play him, Triple Triad seems to have been popular in Eorzea a while ago (he mentions being good at it "years ago") but it kind of fell out of popularity. I suppose Godbert made it popular again with the Gold Saucer!
There is no official lore to support it, but in my head canon FFXIV is set in the interdimensional rift. More specificly, in world B the setting of Dissidia.
Think about it: Bhunivelze wanted to test Lightning and just sent her to a random dimension? Unlikely.
Shantotto visists Eorzea, leaves with a warning and never returns? Unless she returns here in Dissidia.
The crystal tower with the whole endgame of FFIII just a short stroll away from Costa del SoL?
People just randomly spawning the buster sword to fight? Oh come on.
This would also explain why the Ascians are so hell beant on returning everything to its original state. The rift is not exactly a good place to create huge empires.

I maintain that every single character who appears on a Triple Triad card but has never made (and will never make) an appearance in Final Fantasy XIV exists solely in Godbert Manderville's head as part of an upcoming and highly anticipated series of romance novels.
