I'm aware zantetsuken possess people who are wielding it. Not like it matters though since we have people walking around with it who aren't possessed. Chances are LORE wise, players aren't even getting the real thing. Making a variation of it isn't hard. Hes asking for a great sword version of it not asking to allow DKs to wield it.
