I thought SoF was pretty easy and fun to figure out. I don't think it was ever an issue of SE making this too hard to play but rather the lazy players that don't care to learn mechanics. If you've ever been in WoD on a Monday night then you know what I mean.
Everyone blaming everyone here. It's not player fault it's se. It's not casuals, it's elitist so not wanting to come back. It's not elitist, it's casuals who are incompetent.
Isn't it everyone's fault? Own up to yourselves. As somebody who has cleared coil often (therefore an elitist to some), I love helping people with Steps. I've helped multiple people through and when I get it on trial roulette I stay as long as I can to help. It's not my responsibility, but why be a jerk to the people who need help and just leave? It's a fun fight so I'll gladly help and teach. As of the casuals, I know you're not reading this but you should do your part to listen to the veterans, or at least be prepared and willing to learn on your own. As for SE, they're really not at fault, but they should've thought the reset option through a bit more. Waiting around for a failed trial does suck; however, at least this means the group can practice a bit more.
^ This. Although I can do the cannons as a PS4 player, there is a noticeable delay when trying to disengage from the cannon, so I did get hit by the explosions of the cannons at first until I learned to account for this, and yes, this did cause a wipe or two. When I cleared the first time, it was literally down to seconds there at the end, with Vishap at the last ward, so I agree, even shaving off 1-2% should be helpful.Let's not forget what SE considers a nerf. Vishap had a LOT of HP (can't find the exact amount, surprised that's not listed somewhere) and there were quite a few times we lost with him at 1-2%. Shaving off a few thousand HP would have prevented those losses.
There were also some problems with UI in this fight. One player who used a controller said she couldn't run canons because she'd get locked in and "stuck" on the canon controls and couldn't run away when Vishap started blasting the canons, so she'd invariably die.
Mostly to people complaining, it's kind of ridiculous to complain. You cleared it before the nerf; you got your (tiny) challenge. Now when you get slotted into Steps on trial roulette, you won't feel obligated to abandon anymore. Win/win. It's not like nerfing the main scenario is going to profoundly affect your raiding you know...
People complain about the nerf because like other content in this game it simply was not needed. Steps of Faith... like really people needed a nerf for that? lol
Same reason why AK back in the day was nerfed like 3 times, Quarn bees got nerfed, etc..
It is really sad that SE did not feel that increasing drop rate for dungeon items for Relic was a priority, first Relic was hell and now doing another Relic it's just.... ugh
Finaly people like me can do a stephs of fate by roulete than taking (with a smile) a 30mins lockout cuz of leaving at the start. ;D
About the pony upgrade:
I still dont get the pony hype lol - they are so damn ugly o-O and you have to finish a extreme primal and hope for that rare drop. <,<
Unicorn still the best!
Not my cup of tea either. I don't really like the animations that come with them. I would be more inclined to collect them if they were more than enhanced version of the unicorn for WHM which i prefer personally.

Nah, the only fix to SoF that would have negated all the QQ is having it go slower (eg so you have more time) with each fail. Nerfing the HP and Damage just makes it as much of a joke as the Praetorium and Castrum Meridianum.
