**Grumble Grumble** They never said they were going to work on it either. Suck it up and drive on.
Did Steps of Faith today in duty finder with mostly non-clearers. We killed it at the second ward. Seems mister happy is right, they shaved 1/3 of Vishap's health off.

I'm disappointed the Steps of Faith trial was patched. Sure, it was difficult to complete initially, but once you got a group willing to communicate beating that trial was so much more rewarding. After that it is extremely easy to complete. Patching things like this imo decreases the chance of players bothering to communicate or work together in the game. We need more content like this. What's the point in clearing anything if you're basically just handed a victory? People paying for clears, etc. just lowers the quality of an MMO game.
It finally reflects the challenge it should be with what loot it gives.
I have a way to make content harder for everyone.
Queue up for content with the lowest ilvl requirement. That'll keep your content difficult
But seriously, people complain and nag too much. It's something you NEED for 3.0 and after 3.0 releases, it'll be.. null and void content.
^This. SoF getting nerfed is actually sadder than the Pharos Sirius nerf. What's next? A Chrysalis nerf? SE is leaning towards a design philosophy I really don't care for.
Not entirely sure if you're kidding or not? If people need to come up with their own ways to manually make content harder, then said content is barely viable and devs should be addressing that -- not players.
All story battles up to this point have been easy with communication due to the fact that they were largely tank and spank with mechanics. Steps of Faith is pretty different from that, the coordination required is different and as a result, even with communication it's a difficult fight. As a result, a large amount of people haven't been able to clear it due to the fact that people aren't used to this type of battle, and as a result, it's nerfed. While this type of encounter may be seen in Heavensward, this is the first of its kind.
While many people argue that challenge is a good thing, and I agree, a story trial is not the right place or time to have this, especially when ALL players, hardcore or casual, have to pass this. We can maybe have a Hard mode version of this in the future for those that would like it, but for now, in my opinion, the nerfs were necessary.
All they need to do is tighten down the ilevel sync for most content. It's way too easy when -EVERYONE-but-one- has overgeared equipment. The solution there is to use a lighter ilevel-sync when 25% of the players don't hit the sync, and use a heavier ilevel sync when all players are over-geared.^This. And ilevelsync the mainstream scenario or put the difficulty back up to release levels. It wasn't hard at release, and everyone spamming it had only ilevel 70 gear.
Anyway... while I won't care too much in the grand scheme of things if they leave the nerf intact, I'd rather nerfs be addressed through "the echo" rather than making every content a faceroll by simply having the poetics gear.
Just got it in trials. Two newbies, the other six veterans. I ran towers. Two canoneers who knew what they were doing - one tank, one healer. Main tank and main healer who knew what they were doing. The two newbies were DPS. We told them to stay under Vishap's belly and not move. They listened. He was dead before the third ward, on the first try. (Note that you didn't need the third ward with a very good group BEFORE the nerf, but that was rare.)
We should have let the newbies fail just once so they could get DUTY FAILED as you watch the Gate of Halone get blown up.
I agree, 33% less HP seems right. "More forgiving" is definitely the term to describe the nerf. You still need people who know what they're doing for an easy win, but if you have a new person do something dumb like miss a tower it's less likely to cause a total wipe.
