    As a long-term high-spending glamorer

I must say, the glamor system in this game is poorly designed. I mean your gear is all like Woodworking for this, leatherworker for that, weaver for these, goldsmith for those, blacksmith for this, carpenter for that, armorer, alchemist for god knows why......

Then on top of all that, you got grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. You gotta go into the glamor screen, attempt to glamor something just to be shown what grade prism you need at least until you can remember which item levels relate to which grade it's something like grade 1 for levels 1-25, grade 2 for 25-35, grade 3 for 35-45 I don't even know tbh lol. I never wanted to bother spending the time to memorize it all cuz it's stupid I just go into the glamor screen and have it tell me what I need.

I can craft my own glamor prisms but crafting them each time you feel like changing up how you look is highly irritating to me, gotta head to mor dhona, grab the crap, hit up your retainers, grab the other crap, verify which ones you need, load up your craft, make each one you need.

Nah I just buy them on the market board. I can't be effed to deal with that.

I mean you can craft a ton of extra prisms and leave 'em in your inventory so you can very quickly switch out your glamors whenever you feel like it. But I mean there's 7 necessary prisms types from each class, 5 different grades which depend on what you feel like at the moment. That ends up being 35 spaces of inventory being used for your retainers and yourself. Plus you gotta store all of your glamor gear that you like in your retainers or Armoury Chest totaling ridiculous amounts of further inventory space.

Frankly, it's a bad system. It's inconvenient, it forces players to use game time for inventory management which I feel is kinda stupid.

This isn't a post advocating for the glamor system like GWII and some other MMOs are using now because those posts are bountiful and make their own awesome points, this is to remind SE:

I have no problems with it myself, and the system is designed to stimulate the game economy and give crafters something to do.

It's not that bad, and reminder that we didn't even have glamour at launch.

True, I remember buying an HQ Vanya robe of healing for 1.5 mil or so just to get out of my DL cowl because I thought it looked horrid. And the system isn't so bad, you only need to know what class can repair the gear and what ilevel it is for the proper glam prism. I'll change a glamour about once a month, and the hardest part for me is putting the outfit together. Then, I wear the outfit to the market board so I can quickly reference the pieces for the necessary prisms, buy 'em, glam it up, and /pose.

It's bad, but the prisms are far from being the main issue with it. Restrictions and having to hold on to the actual items you want to use for glamours (in a game that's admittedly having problems handling inventory loads) - those are far bigger headaches.

    Yeah lol
Remember when everyone wore their af gear cuz there was no glamour options XD ?
I wore my ghost costume in AK cuz it was spooky on halloween lol
It was a bit rough healing due to a huge drop in stats besides belt stat but we made it through lol.

Not sure if having no system is a good standard for comparison lol

My main complaint is that it's very counterintuitive. It took me kinda a while to get how it all fit together.

Overall I agree with op. It's not a big deal by any means, but it definitely has the potential to be more convenient. Since glamour is just a QoL feature by nature I don't see why it can't be a bit more convenient.

Personally I think they should just remove the grades. So just 1 glamour prism per crafting class that works for all levels. They all take the same mats anyways, and in the end you'd balance out how many of them are currently selling. But it would eliminate the awkwardness of mix-and-matching your prisms to your gear and would be more convenient for both crafters and buyers.

tldr; it can still achieve the desired effects (stimulating crafting and such) while also being more convenient.

I have one retainer simply for gear and I only main 2 jobs (plus I gather, garden and lightly craft), I feel for those who want to keep assorted gears to glamour for even more jobs.

The suggestion of a glamour catalog in other threads seems to be an appropriate way to deal with the increasing need for inventory management, I don't even know where I will put the new items that I will no doubt obtain in Heavensward.

I like the system because I made money with it. But I am with you, it is very clumsy

It is tedious, but strangly the complexity of alot of this games systems are what appeal to me. Glamours, melding, crafting, fishing - you often have to spend significant time outside of game studying these things to truly master them.

Since battle gear is 90% drops or tomes, I'd say they made it this way to create an economy. So we have something to spend money on, and also for those who want to work, something to gather/make and make money off of. Alot of people don't want to go catch that fish, desynth it, hope it drops, go gather the prism mats, have the 50 craft, create the correct grade prism - thats why your glamour swimsuit cost you a million gil.

I agree it's better than nothing but SE is a long-standing successful company with a large and successful MMO I would expect some innovation. If we have to compare a system like this to "nothing" well... yeah I'm grateful we can glamor don't get me wrong, I just feel that humanity would still be living in castles and worshiping kings and all that crap if we stuck with the "better than nothing" principle.

I'm just saying that if SE doesn't want to go down the best route and do what GWII and those games are doing with their glamor system, at least fix this ridiculous prism system so it isn't awful.
