    Awesome Community

I know we are all waiting for the expansion, and we are butting heads a little on the forums, casual vs elite. DPS vs Non DPS, RMTs ect some of which I have participated in. This weekend someone reminded me how great this community can be, specifically on Exodus. I have taken this time before the expansion to work on raising my crafters. I have just gotten a few 50. I have spent all my gil and I used up all my leve allowances. So I am grinding baby.

I am in LL by the MA and I am LF meld because I can't craft my HQ darksteel ingots to get my 1st master tome because I lack the require skill level so I am trying to increase it through some melds. I didn't know but I was melding the wrong gear, and I was melding it wrong. This wonderful person shows up to help me meld, realizes I am wasting materia says "Stop, you are doing it wrong wait here" she comes back with a full set of HQ green blacksmith gear and says "put it on" Who am I not to listen to the lady? " She then says if we are going to do this, we have to do it right..wait" She proceeds to make all of my green HQ jewelry and belt. She says, "look at my jewelry and belt, write down the melds. Meld the accessories before the gear" Again, I listen to the lady. She says, " I wasted much learning to get this right, do your melds exactly like mine, let me know when you're ready" I tell her I'm broke spending all raising crafters, but I thank her and say I will, I promise and I will pay her back sometime and that I will pay this kindness forward. She said someone helped her once and she was honoring their generosity by helping me. She then gives me 100 k gil.

The next day I am AFK on my Culinarian in LL, come back to my Computer and the angel is there waiting to trade with me. She proceeds to give me a full set of HQ culinarian gear and does some melds for, she even provides some materia. I have been playing these games since UO, I have never witnessed anything like this. This person has humbled me in way I did not think possible. I have not been good enough to others while gaming and in RL, I must do better, I must be better. This stranger's random act of kindness has moved me. I will do something like this for someone else in game, but I am going to do it RL as well. Thank you so very, very much.

Honestly? I find the crafting/gathering community to be a lot nicer than the combat community. Because crafting/gathering is all solo content, no one is robbing anyone else of anything, and everything is generally chill.

Hell, I was helping an FC mate work on gearing their Culinarian. She had a Lv40 off-hand. I was like "Hold on, you can't craft Sauteed Coeurl with that." and I crafted her, with my own mats, a Militia Culinary Knife.

If I were rich enough to help random players like that with crafting/gathering by supplying them with gear, I absolutely would! Unfortunately, I'm not. T_T

However, I never once charge someone if they need something made and provide the necessary materials unless they want me to make more than 10 of a single item and I can't quick synth or it has to be HQ.

Yay for exodus! I was actualy about to fail miserably at a leve (that was way above my paygrade) when lo and behold I was about to die when boom, stoneskin. then heals, that person stayed with me until I completed. After words I wanted to give that person som gil for helping me out when they told me don't worry about it. Pay it forward when you see someone that needs help, help them out.

Honestly I want ot pay it forward more than you can imagine, I gathered crafted and fill both retainers in hopes of making enough gil to finish off the materia some I can then make HQ items from non HQ materia like she did, I believe have the proper cross class skills now to make thing much easier.

Aside from a few bad apples, and disregarding most of the forum posts, I love the FFXIV community. I've had some great people that I've counted myself fortunate to have encountered in my time in Eorzea. My FC has some of the nicest, and most helpful folks I've ever met in an MMO. And I can say the same about some of the content I've run with folks from DF. Now, of course there are always the aforementioned bad apples, but luckily, thus far my experience has been 95% positive with the community, and honestly it's one of the main reasons I love and continue to play this game.

When I had gotten into WoD for the first time with my DRG character I told my party I was new but had read up on the fights. One of the healers gave me tips for each major encounter and was patient with my missteps. It was a nice conversation that made the experience that much better.

I might have witnessed that. Do you remember another player telling everyone to give their commendation to that healer because it was such a classy move....That was me.

True, because you don't need other crafters to achieve set goals (makes it a lot easier and cheaper though). The combat community needs to work together. It's where good people turn into great people. Solo is easy.

I like both aspects of the game (raiding and crafting) but check the Market Board btw. It's them same crafters being "chill". xD

Crafters/gatherers have their own version of PvP that can turn vicious too :P

Seriously though OP, glad you've been having some good experiences. My experiences are usually neutral and are more often than I'd like bad with people in DF at least. My server is great for the most part though, and I do try to do my part to help it be that way.

Just yesterday I was fighting the Alexandrite map Cyclops alongside a poor unlucky Bard who got Morbol Menace for his enemy. Bards have no way to prevent or cleanse the bind and bad breath that follows. So I healed/esuna'd him while I was fighting, made a potential headache for him an easy fight, and we both won.
