Poll/Discussion: Which playable race would you want in Final Fantasy XIV after Au Ra?

Forget Viera. Forget Bangaa. I think they ought to take their April Fools, run with it, and implement Viangaa.

It's technically a XIV original, yet still has the traits everyones asking for!

Just because people don't play those races as much doesn't mean people don't like the variety. And of course people are going to choose a "normalized/popular" option on FFXIV many times even if they want a bestial race.

I for one always tend to go elf or human in the absence of a bestial race or "different" race that appeals to me, but I have played bestial races in previous MMOs that I've played. I played Charr in GW2 for example. Sure, I could play Roegadayn, but it doesn't appeal to me and still isn't even a little bestial. So expecting people who play bestial races to always go with Roegadyn or another unpopular but very much humanoid race is a bit silly in my opinion.

I would hardly call spending resources to enrich the diversity, world, and atmosphere of the game a waste of time and resources either. Even if few people play bestial races, I'd like to think most people appreciate the diversity they bring to a game's world, which is a nice, healthy thing to appeal to gamers overall.

I honestly don't see it as waste of time either, however actions speak louder than words. In my opinion the Au Ra are simply a result of what the development team determined the majority wanted. More anime hair styles check, more cute female characters check, an entire race with younger head/ face looks save for one male option check. The next race (when we get one) will follow the same pattern, a condensed version based on data/ feedback given by gender/ race combination selection.

I would love the option to play a bipedal version of this.


Judging from the sheer amount of cat man/girl, kirito/ lightning and misspelled Cloud/ Sephiroth clones, I wont hold my breath.

It was never made clear how Viera actually reproduce, but catching on some Art Works they could work like the Asari. Whatever Race they mate with it will always produce a Female Asari Offspring. Same could work with the Viera.

Well besides that the only male rabbit I seen from Square is this guy. I played a lot of their games though he is the only one that I can think of.
