Swimming and underwater content?

SE had posted prior to FFXIV launch that the system is similar to the system of FFXI and lacked many of the same features. The jump feature is being programmed into the game(currently) and they said that was one of the reasons it wasn't going to be implemented originally and swimming falls under similar category of action. I would be surprised if it couldn't render water but like jumping certain things would have to be programmed into the system and tweeked before it would be possible.

Maybe I am wrong and maybe this is just an area they didn't want to go with the game. Or even thought of who knows. haha
