Airships and Chocobo will be very soon... it will be part of a monthly update. Underwater content we are discussing is expansion material. There is no way SE can add this in just a patch... well they could but that would be one big ass 3-4GB patch...
chiz yeah, I am all for swimming! I love all things related to ocean/water, save for aquaman.
Battling, I am sketchy on, it seems like it'd be a programming/animation nightmare, but I would welcome simple movement mechanics, with basic goals and motivations in mind.
It would help break up questing from what we expect. "Adventurer, I lost a wedding ring off the dock over there!" the small Lalafell lass then forces you violently into a swimsuit and next thing you know, you find yourself immersed in water. Now, looking ridiculous, you have to scurry around and find it before air runs out. Or a racing mini-game, you can build and set up small obstacle courses with friends or npcs, and compete your oldschool platforming skills against them.
I think underwater content would be neato![]()
I would love to have this!!
(is there an option to add polls to threads?? It would be interesting to see people's opinions in that format)
While you have a point the fact the they just rolled them out doesn't help it. Guildleves are the same exact thing with less NPC interaction and they've been in since the start. You're basing the prerequisite for combat based on the quests we have right now that they've JUST rolled out. It isn't a stretch to think they can't introduce more creative questing that wouldn't involve combat at all.
It all depends on what the pros and cons of spending the resources on it would be, but if they can do it well, I'm all for it.
If you don't understand what that means - they are not being creative and thats what I'm basing it on.
The day when SE does something like this is when I'll swallow those words and admit that I was wrong:

Who gives a SH@t as long as it is fun to play.
But really, lets make the base game fun and get some goals going before we talk about 'swimming and underwater content'.
I don't care if water kills me in one touch as long as it is fun, gives me a goal, and brings in enough players to sustain it.
(See Mario, or Assassin's Creed).
This entire discussion is a waste at this point in the game. Glad I could add a little more waste to it. That's what the internet is for though..... (and increasingly these forums)
Idiot wind, blowing through the buttons of our coats
Blowing through the letters that we wrote
Idiot wind, blowing through the dust upon our shelves
We’re idiots, babe
It’s a wonder we can even feed ourselves
swimming would be awesome! maybe not breathing underwater and long diving sessions though.. Unless white mages had some buff or alchemist could make some potion to accomplish that? And underwater content - yea! Underwater transportation cool too.![]()
I think we need to flesh out this Moon content idea a bit more...
I would be shocked if they implemented this.
The katamari quest sure is cool but i dunno if it would fit with the mature them in FF XIV lolWhile you have a point the fact the they just rolled them out doesn't help it. Guildleves are the same exact thing with less NPC interaction and they've been in since the start.
