    Targeting System not quite there...

I think one of the quirks with the targeting system that gives so many people problems is that it bases the next target to select on where the character model is looking.

I find this to be problematic when trying to cycle through enemy's. My natural instinct is to move my camera to face the enemy I want to attack.

I would like to be able to target based on what the camera is looking at, not the player model. An option in the targeting sub menu to toggle this would be great!

    copied from post 12:
What if you could control the mouse "finger" with the controller? that would help a lot. Like Auto-run + Camera Control axis.

Pretty much all MMOs do that...or just use the mouse...

In other MMOs the cycle is from closest to farthest or from first appearance to last appearance based on a visible list. Would be pretty nice to have a list on the gui with nearby foes or at least different cycling methods available.

Please please make fixes to the current system instead of adding just new ones. Cycling through targeting modes during combat is a real hassle on the controller and that's before you even begin the action of targeting anything.

You think targeting as a meele is such an issue? Try it with the current system as a mage, where you're switching back and forth between mobs and party members. I never realized how spoiled I was and how good I had it in ffxi with good macro's and <stpt> or <stnpc>.

We need to be able to target normal mobs beside leves with icons as well. Also clicking on Icon (attack this target) needs to select mob as well only by clicking on the icon... etc. o_O Or I dont know what else...

it seems like the current fix is to set filters but there is still an underlying issue with the way it targets equally weighted target types. I use target Enemy a lot and rely on sub-commands to target party members for cure.

The only way to face the party member you want to cure is to run at them and sometimes that messes up the range of the spell if you intend to do AoE. Same thing with trying to attack a mob, i want to stay back from the fight but i find myself running toward the next enemy to get my targeting to work correctly without having to cycle through 10 different mobs when your in a bind.

Use a mouse. I've found that's the only way to effectively target as a mage and it makes it so much easier.
