I kept having to afk sporadically to take care of my daughter during a roulette so the group kicked me. Valid reason but I wish people were more sympathetic.

If you have a daughter who demands alot of your attention, isn't it just right to not play with others? I believe an action affecting others is not considerate.
Lol. Totally a man child who never learned to love anything but their own mother. People have kids and lives, They have families. Sometimes i need to stop to sort a work call to get them to call me back or deal with my kid who fell over and is upset or they had a bad dream etc. Grown ups understand this.
It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it helps to not be in a party with whiny kids and man children who can't think of anything but themselves. A lot of the time I'll stop for a few minutes and end up playing the rest with my kid in my lap because she just wants to be with me for a bit to calm down.

I don't have much to add to this because I've never been vote kicked out of a Dungeon/Raid before in all my time of playing this game since 2.0 launched. I've unfortunately had to kick people though for either trolling, afk'ing, harassment or outright refusing to play the game because they're having a temper tantrum for some reason.
The sad thing is that I've seen a lot of people do these things too. You'd think people would be more mature than that but nope they act like 5 year old children over the dumbest things.
You would think that, but when it comes to kids you have to be a master at timing. Take naptime or any magic hour when there's peace..quiet and you've just shoehorned a lego out of your foot, that's your time! You try to get in a run because normally things work out..but every now and then something happens..you hear the pitter patter of feet..silence..the eyes staring at you from behind just to hear a tired voice that says "what are you playing?" which turns into "Can I play?" that goes to "I want to play something else" and..down we go.
Or they can just be in the crib you'll hear the russling about, that will quickly get louder to the point where you know there's a jail break in progress. These are dangerous things! You got to be prepared but sometimes you got to go and take care of things, it might take 30 seconds but normally if most parents are going to take longer they will come back and let us know to either kick or not. People have lives you got to understand that, not everyone has nothing to do.
Or the point where you hear them around the house or nearby then things get quiet..that's when #$%@ gets real..something is being planned and you need to figure it out for everyones safety.
I don't mind waiting for parents with kids, let the dog in, you smell supper getting over cooked..when you have lives that depend on you and you don't eat Bojangles every day sometimes..stuff comes up.

Regardless of reason, whether it be because of children or whatever else, if someone "kept having to afk sporadically" I'm not surprised the party kicked them.
Obviously your child's welfare is going to take priority over some random people on the internet, but remember to them you are also just a random person on the internet.
If I have an afk for a short period, I see it as a challenge to 3 man the dungeon till they get backToo long and a kick, but fine when people explain and don't just disappear.
Not my kid not my problem, that's what I say.
I have a horrible story that would set my guarantee my place in the underworld and have that mother from the Baltimore riots travel and beat me senseless, but a lot of people who say that just haven't had the right thing happen yet.
Anywho, a lot of people who afk a lot will be okay with saying replace me if you want. Maybe it's just the patience I have now compared to when I played other games where two minutes made me angry and seemed like 20..but 6 hours just flew by. I think it's a middle ground. You are playing other people so you try to be considerate, but at the same time you should understand there's things going around when the game is turned on. For the most part people are very understanding on both ends, some wait or the ones who need to go say kick if needed and they're okay with that.
It's odd, it's usually a tank who afk's or has to for me but I'm a summoner so I can pull out my McNugget pet and try to tank..challenge accepted.
