Everyone participating in an instance has equal entitlement to loot, regardless of what they need it for. It doesn't deserve a kick. If you are lower geared you can ask the group if they could pass on gear for you, but it shouldn't be expected that anything is automatically yours.

It's not the last time I was kicked, but the story was my first time. In sastasha NM. I was running the dungeon for the first time ever, as a healer. And FFXIV was my very first MMORPG. I had no clue as to what any of the terms enmity/tank/dps and such referred to. I had also absolutely no clue about what should be my job as a WhM in a dungeon. So far, I had only played solo, and couldn't know that not all players could cure themselves. By default, I thought we all could. And as soon as I entered, I switched to "Cleric Stance" and I remember something like "Nice, we're gonna have a dps'ing whm". ---> "No clue what you're talking about but suuure !"

We reach first pack of trash. I DPS like my life is at stake, and think "whoah, they have a lot of hp compared to the ones on the map". After a minute or so, the tank obviously dies, followed closely by everyone else and I think " They also hit harder"...

And here we go again, the tank asks then why I wouldn't heal. The only answer was obviously "Do I have to ?". And then the 3 other players explain me the roles for each. Tank/DPS/Healer. I say "Okaaay" and we start running, the tank gets to the mob and then I start spamming cures on what I thought was the tank, but was actually a dps.
Another wipe, and then I get to understand the tank was that guy with the blue icon. There we go again, third time.... Spamming cures on the actual tank this time, I ran OoM in no time. Wipe again.

At that point, I was kicked (very politely though) after a short discussion, and after they gave me some links about "roles" to look into.

    Unforgettable run, really.

I've never been kicked personally but I have a great 1 for my friend. When we all started playing, we were on ps3 (before the ps4 version even launched). This was also before auto skip cutscenes. He was kicked from Praetorium on 3 separate occasions because the loading time on ps3 was too slow for their little speed run. It's not like he was watching the scenes either. He was skipping them as fast as the load time would allow. He would get locked out of boss fights and subsequently kicked. Smh

Aw, did someone point out it was a dick move and it hurt your wee feelings? Just because you can do something doesn't mean it's right or justified to do it. It not only makes you selfish, but it means you need to look up the definition of selfish.

Last few times have been in LoA/ST/WoD due to trying to initiate a votekick on trolls, turns out most of them only do troll runs now with partial premades. His buddies vote no, then I get kicked.

As someone said before, I don't really understand mentality of trolling. Purposely making game frustrating for others doesn't seem in any way fun. I get a lot more fun out of those runs, when alliances are so coordinated, that every mechanic is handled flawlessly, and we're able to push/skip phases.

New players might not know what that means lol. Say it to yourself as though you do not know what your referencing. You just sound like a douche lol.

Wrong. If someone puts in their time, effort and proceeds through the dungeon with a bunch of strangers and does their job effectively, and a piece of gear they want drops, they have every right to need on it. You vote kicking for that is a violation of the vote kick feature, and you deserve to be reported.

Might as well say everyone in the group should be able to need anything because they need it for their off classes with this kind of stupid mentality.
Dude, the reason behind needing gears would be up to the individual, where's the right when a bunch of strangers comes up and say that there are stuffs you cant loot.. That is to say that they even ask for the gears which doesnt happen most of the time, since they whined after it's been looted.. The system sets people equally on looting.. Other players get loots that i want, i'll move on and try again to get that loot..

Needing for seals over someone else needing for a gear upgrade is not a dick move.

    It is selfish.
Also, needing for a gear upgrade over someone else needing for seals is selfish too.

Being selfish in a game like this is okay.

Getting upset because you didn't get your loot-roll and making up reasons like "gear is more important than seals!!! (to me, anyway... 'cause I want the gear and you want the seals...)" is immature and wrong.

Your reason for rolling can simply be "because I like to see if I can win the RNG roll!" and it's just as valid as anyone rolling for a gear upgrade.
Personal reasons differ. As long as it's for your personal progress (as defined by the individual) there's nothing wrong with it.

The only time it's wrong is if the person's reason for rolling is "to get something so that other's can't."
That's wrong, and a dick move. Don't purposefully try to be a negative influence on other player's gaming.

Simply being selfish, however, is not wrong in this game. The entire point of this game is to be selfish and progress in a way you personally find entertaining. You can't fault people for doing that.

Well, you can, it's just silly and immature

While it is certainly within your rights to roll on a piece of gear as glamour or for an upgrade to your retainer, it is much nicer to allow a person to get an upgrade if it truly is. Sure it is partially on them to ask, but if I were to ever roll on something purely for glamour I would ask either before the dungeon or when the rolls open. If someone else has already needed I just shrug it off. It's not a big deal to me, but it is nicer to ask. It shows concern for your fellow human being who is simply trying to progress. When I can clearly tell that a whole group has amazing gear, I'll just roll on what I want. Anyway, seems like we're veering off topic here. I haven't been vote kicked in this game yet, and only once on any other game. I hope I wont be, but who knows!
