While you probably wounldn't get people wanting to do so in DF, you can turn off the echo buff if you wish. I think its just a simple right click like with other buffs.I see. Either way, connected or not, to add Echo to Steps would be a foolish thing to do. It is the most powerful boss to that point of the storyline and it takes away the thrill of doing the fight without any aid by any buffs aside from skills and thus the thrill of a legit boss fight that isn't a Primal lol.
Why do people still spout this nonsense? Blessing of Light is NOT the Echo. The two are very separate and the WoL still has the echo. The usefulness of the Blessing of Light could even be questioned other than being useless Minfilias shield against Ascians (whyever the WoL provided that passively).
I agree entirely, however 14 doesn't teach scaling difficulty involving the leveling process, nor does it openly encourage social teamwork before content forces it, after new players have arguably been conditioned to go it alone, and then it's debatable outside of memorizing you-tube videos.I'm not saying it doesn't belong in main scenario, I'm trying to say that they'd pick a hell of a time to decide to implement something with a curve like that at the end of main scenario. I mean honestly, if all of the main scenario fights were with scaling difficulty (even when they were current content and you were only in Ilvl90...because fights like levi HM are anything but difficult), I'd have a harder time defending a nerf to improve clear rates for SoF.
And if you don't your quickly labeled as wasting everyone's time, but hey that's another topic, and a dead horse.
The 8 times my groups abandoned were in DF. That 9th time though, I had done every gimmick I could think of to get a party organized lol (ranging from "Free dragon rides" to "Join for an opportunity to be like Shiva and get ravaged by dragons" and many things in between), but I got in a party with 2 PLD (me being the weakest PLD, 1 WM, 2 DRG, 1 BRD, and 1 BLM. I cried when we won lol.This. I just did my first-ever run of it via DF, and we one-shot it. Why? Because the group communicated with each other on what needed to be done and when. A few things went wrong, but we were able to deal with them thanks to communication.
That's it. That's all that trial needs: people working together.
This world we call Earth has way more worse things to be disgusted by than a mere video game....you aught to think about your priorities a bit...
I am also a raider but honestly, nerfs going to happen when the content becomes outdated. The hard work we put into clearing the content when it was new and offered the best gear was...well we get the best gear at the time and get to wear it and have enjoyed the fun of clearing it when it was more difficult...Yes fun, cause if you aren't having any fun you're doing it wrong :/
They eventually nerf it so that more casual players can complete the content before new content is released since well being locked behind T5, T9 etc makes you unable to complete the Coil story. Just because they are not hardcore gamers doesn't mean they don't support this game also. A lot of the FFXIV community are more casual type players and they are paying subs just like us. Just because you assume all casuals are players who don't want to improve doesn't make it true...
I mean I don't even mind if they nerf it a month or so before a new major content patch....I already beat it when it was difficult why not let others enjoy the amazing work SE put into coil bosses and story at an easier pace for them, be it cause they just do not have as much time to play to perfect their jobs or gear or just cause they might not be as experienced at gaming in general. Yeah some players might just want it nerfed cause they want to win while goofing off but well to each their own they may only be interested in the story and not the fights.
Not everyone has the same reasons to play, but it is nice when SE makes an effort to try to include everyone and many different types of players. You should not be worrying about random other players progression....just your own fun.

Simple. I didn't know and thought the 2 were connected. Now I know, and thanks for clarifying. Why do people still spout this nonsense? Blessing of Light is NOT the Echo. The two are very separate and the WoL still has the echo. The usefulness of the Blessing of Light could even be questioned other than being useless Minfilias shield against Ascians (whyever the WoL provided that passively).
Good Example of Blessing of Light is the battle against Ultima Weapon and Lahabrea.
Did you try yelling in ALL CAPS? Smoothest run I was ever in had someone doing that (joined in for the fun of it myself). Maybe on the next difficult thing that can be tried? The 8 times my groups abandoned were in DF. That 9th time though, I had done every gimmick I could think of to get a party organized lol (ranging from "Free dragon rides" to "Join for an opportunity to be like Shiva and get ravaged by dragons" and many things in between), but I got in a party with 2 PLD (me being the weakest PLD, 1 WM, 2 DRG, 1 BRD, and 1 BLM. I cried when we won lol.
Nope, I did all caps because that was the way I had seen it done. Sorry if you don't like it. But yeah, I hope the next ones go smoother.
Supposedly in the Japanese version of that event Midgar is more clear in that he didn't strip you of the blessing, but sealed it cause it was a drain on Hydaelyn's lifeforce. The blessing was going to fail anyway because of her state, he replaced it with his own for this reason.
The English version is just more ambiguous for whatever reason.
