Three Ilm Knights, One Thousand Malm Road
Can I be that youngster who hangs out with old people because I relate to them more?
I haven't cleared it yet but was looking forward to the challenge and satisfaction of clearing it![]()

Yes, but he never was. Yoshi-P even pretty much told them to "get good" but in a "have you tried zooming your camera out?" kind of way. The complaints died down after 2.1, though. Titan's Latencyslide attack was pretty much removed from the game.
I'm massively disappointed. We finally get a medium challenge instance and now it's going to be faceroll easy probably. So apparently we're only allowed to have super hard Coil, or piss easy everything else, since we're not allowed to have a middle ground.
Because if the first instances in Heavensward are as hard as the original SoF was, there will be nothing preparing them for that difficulty. We NEED for people to be prepared for more difficult things, and get better. Nerfing things like this helps nobody, it dumbs down the game's players. So SoF is now a little easier, more people will clear and be able to enter Ishgard making for better grouping up for activites and events. How is this a bad thing? As someone has said you will no doubt still have to follow the mechanics of the fight, IMO I'd say the only change is there will be less deaths and faster kills (Vishap included).

Let the babes (the people who complained to SE about SoF being too hard) be spoonfed and let the real players reap the true satisfaction of victory. You know, there's Crafting, Cooking, Fishing, Blacksmithing, and others if the front lines are too hard for you all. Challenges arise, don't cower. Either you overcome or you succumb.I'm massively disappointed. We finally get a medium challenge instance and now it's going to be faceroll easy probably. A medium challenge most people weren't prepared for already, sadly, with no rewards like those dropped in Super Hard Coil.
It is SE's own doing, not yours, mine or the rest of the player base, that we have piss-easy, or super hard with no middle ground.
If these people can "access" Ishgard/Heavensward and "still" yell about middle ground difficulty content I will jump right in there with you and tell them to man up.
If you have already personally cleared this, why is it so personal to you specifically?, tell everyone how hard core professional you cleared SOF and find some closure.

This so much. This was the problem with SoF as well. We're guided through all MSQ (and many sidequests too), with both our hands held tight, given stuff like candy, and then...BAM! Suddenly something that isn't even hard, just a bit more complex, and all of a sudden all the fresh swimmers drowned. And people wonder why.......

What's sad is that people are told exactly what to do in that fight...This so much. This was the problem with SoF as well. The only true fix SoF needed was a loot pool. Actually reward people for the time and effort. A pat on the back and a cutscene you only see once is NOT A GOOD REWARD.

That's a valid point for sure. It's kinda up in the air what kind of life and longevity FFXIV will have because it can be hard to predict those things. I am sure SE wants the game to last to get the most profit from it so we'll have to see how much the community expands in first expansion, how happy the players are with the changes/content, and how many new long term players it hooks.
The game kinda is not getting too much easier though, its only the old out of date content that they nerf (except Steps of Faith...but partly to blame for this was the player base too, people just leaving if they got the trial and refusing to even try to help people. Giving up before even trying is just ugh) so even if new players get by all that nerfed content the newest content at the time is still hard and un-nerfed so it is still a challenge and they would have to work to clear it or wait a long 6 months for nerfs to be applied.
I agree with you its fun to strive to be better and I always do, just not everybody is the same or plays for those reasons. You do, yes, but you can still strive to be better and do those barriers since you tackle the content right when it is new and not nerfed.
So basically the nerf in the end does not really affect your enjoyment of the game, but it may help the enjoyment of players who don't have time to strive to be better and they play to relax or maybe they just are not as good at games. Fast reflexes is not a trait that everyone has and the speed of ones mind to react and remember all the buttons to your abilities. Also the boss rotations can be quite complicated sometimes. Can they try to improve? Yes, but there is usually a skill ceiling that eventually you reach your limit and everyone's limit is different.
It's hard to keep everyone happy, but implementing changes that will increase a portion of the player bases enjoyment and should have really no effect on the enjoyment of the other groups of players seems like a good idea generally. The echo buff can be removed so if people still want a challenge they can remove it.
