Triple Triad is secluded into small locations and has the players just standing there. The duelling that you want is a lot different.
And your counter to the best solution (by far) is "I don't want to be inconvenienced, so everyone else should be!"
I said new servers for a reason.
I know.

When walking past me having a duel costs you 70m, you'll have a point. Until then you're just spouting absurd bullsh*t.
Fairly sure at this point you're one of the few people even considering seeing a duel to be an inconvenience. It is hardly an inconvenience to everyone, even people who don't like PvP are accepting that there is no real issue with seeing them. The concept that SE should invest in new servers and maintain extra servers, is some how a better solution to you just getting the f*ck over the fact that your virgin eyes might have to be sullied by people dueling is- at this point -hilarious, please continue.
I'm sure SE will commit to that when they can't even allocate enough space for Housing.
Again, now your suggestion isn't just inconveniencing me, it's inconveniencing SE. They now have to not only implement duels, but invest in new servers and maintaining additional servers, just because you don't want to see duels going on, even though they'd probably be rarer than people doing Treasure Maps after a few weeks.

No, it just costs me my monthly sub. When I joined this game they said that PvP would be instanced, and now you want to change all that when there's a far superior solution that wouldn't bother anyone not interested in dueling.
If duelists are as numerous to warrant changing the tone of the game, I'm sure they'll be able to allocate servers to duelists. If fact, I hear that a whole datacenter in Canada will soon be freed up... so they'll certainly have the hardware for it soon.
When it's all over the map and as invasive as Dueling, you'll have a point, until then however...

Unless you care to point out some overwhelming difference between two people dueling and a person doing Treasure Maps, Hunts, FATEs, Levequests, or even just spamming Ring of Thrones outside Revenant's Toll, this point falls flat. You still wouldn't be forced into PvP, since apparently you have absolutely no counter/issue with the restrictions suggested.
PvP servers, as was pointed out earlier, were with the idea of persistent open world PvP, rather than duel requests. It simply does not make sense to put aside server resources for duel requests. The only "leg" you have to stand on here is that you don't want to see duels.

The overwhelming difference is that all of those except the RoT spam are localized to restricted areas of the map. Players fighting each other is a lot different than PvE activities. As for the RoT spam, having something annoying in the game already is no justification to add a second annoying thing.Unless you care to point out some overwhelming difference between two people dueling and a person doing Treasure Maps, Hunts, FATEs, Levequests, or even just spamming Ring of Thrones outside Revenant's Toll, this point falls flat. Oh really? You do know that they did "put aside" server resources for Legacy players. This would be the same exact thing.PvP servers, as was pointed out earlier, were with the idea of persistent open world PvP, rather than duel requests. It simply does not make sense to put aside server resources for duel requests. The only "leg" you have to stand on here is that you don't want to see duels.
So why do you insist on an option that, at the very least, has the real potential to annoy non-PvPers when there is a far superior solution that had the added benefit of actually making it easier for you to find people to duel with?

You're aware our suggestion is effectively the same as Triple Triad, right? Just out in the wilderness rather than in cities. People would only be able to duel in areas where they'd be spamming their skills in PvE content; Hunts, Maps, FATEs, regular mobs...
Legacy servers weren't an "extra" thing, they were simply a distinction between servers where people had carried over from 1.0 and servers where everyone would start at Lv1 with nothing...
Again, because I don't think you going "Ew, those two are dueling!" is an annoyance which outweighs me losing well over 70m Gil. Because I don't think your "issue" would be a wide spread one. Because I don't need it to be easier to find people to duel with, I already know enough PvPers on my server to manage just fine. Because I don't think SE should have to go out and purchase extra servers just because you have an issue with seeing people duel in the same places they'd be spamming skills in PvE...

Right the thing with this is, Yoshi said its only secluded to small areas for now (golden saucer is quite extensive in all honesty), and it will go open world at some point.
