What in the world is with all these children? lol, I mean holy sh#t what is the matter with all you naysayers. The option to dual would be fun for some and not others, key word here is OPTION. If you think dueling is stupid and a waste of your time, that's awesome, don't do it then, I surely wouldn't. But if you do like this sort of thing then what is wrong with that? Hey I wanna dual my friend on PLD v WAR all the time to see which would win, but we cant because Den is dead, FL sucks, and there is no dueling in the game. Seriously why do you CARE if people can dual or not, you want SE to NOT add it, why? It would do nothing to you at all, not even in the slightest, and it would be no more annoying in public areas than those ANNOYING DRGs who spam their stupid AoE until they run out of TP inside a city. "I don't like this idea so I think YOU shouldn't have it!" Stop being children, there is nothing wrong with having "options"

So a dissenting opinion automatically makes people angry children? It is a 100% fact that the majority of the playerbase is not a fan of PvP and that the classes are in no way balanced for this and if you think people would not complain about class imbalance you being are naive. They have only so many developers and for them to spend time adding something to please a very small percentage of the playerbase while at the same time ignoring the wishes of the majority would be silly for them to do.

Duels would be a fun little thing to add. I know two people in my FC are always going on about Paladin versus Warrior and can't really get a fair match going in FL to determine a winner. We have this perfectly good Gold Saucer sadly missing the original's main attraction: Battle Square. If duels were added I could easily see it being something done in a possible Battle Square addition to GS.

Really couldn't agree more. The chief complaint I see here about implementing dueling is that a few people are afraid of possible confrontations. But this confuses me because PVE is full of this.

As for class balance I have to say, I don't really think there's an MMORPG out there with fully balanced dueling. WoW especially, does not.

PvP in Final Fantasy MMOs has always been in teams based on the city you pledged allegiance to.

I know it's deader than dead, but Wolves Den is a thing. Also is it even possible to make that a rule when there has only really been one other Final Fantasy MMO? That really seems absurd to me... More so when "diversa ab final fantasy undecim" could practically be the latin motto for this game... There is no sensible reason for not having duels in this game, would certainly give us PvPers something better to do than wait hours for one match...

There is absolutely no reason they cannot add duels in a similar fashion to Triple Triad; Limit it to certain areas. Though that limit is stupid for Triple Triad, but I'd actually agree with duels being limited to certain areas. Section off a part of Wolves Den Pier for duels, gods knows the zone needs some traffic... Heck, just instance the duels and let two people queue up together to spar, can even "balance" it that way by limiting it to same Job verses same Job. inb4 "then matches will never end because both people are the same", because apparently personal skill isn't a factor in PvP... Not that that's needed though, if you want to put yourself in a one sided match, more power to you.

This type of system could be great in all honesty. People have been asking for a dueling system (Not open world PvP) and myself as an RP'er would love to see this implemented.

Just don't allow duels in Cities and towns and only allow them in open spaces in the world. Also make it so a few meters from the city is a no Dueling zone, that way people aren't zoning out of a city into the middle of a duel. There could also be certain areas in cities set aside for duels like the Ul'dah coliseum could open up as a duel only area inside the city which can be reserved for private duels. Say, make it an instanced area where you can have a 1 on 1 up to an 8 on 8.

Just make it to where we can automatically decline duels if we don't feel up to it and all will be well.

With a check box for auto-decline and IF duels were only allowed in instanced areas (like coliseum, good idea) I don't see the harm in it. Duels in open world are annoying to those that don't care for them, myself included - and downright obnoxious in heavily populated areas, cities, crafting guilds, etc.. If the duelers just want to do it "for fun" they don't need an unwilling audience, right?

A bold statement there friend, I did not realize you were our spokesman. Do not assume you know that; you dislike that I called those people children, well that is what they are, children act selfish and immature only caring about their own self, that is what a child does, and that is what many people crying about this are doing. So yes, children. Don't like that, then don't act like it. P.S. Don't speak for the majority of people, because you are NOT, and that is extremely insulting.
