Bumping for dueling
Bumping for dueling
Don't know if anyone has said this yet, because 11 pages is alot to read through. But I remember accidentally and on purpose hitting my own team in many of the old FF games (Never really played 11)
Myself, it would not bother me if they did offer a auto deny and maybe the text could be seen if the auto deny is turned off. IE: SoandSo and challenged you to a duel.
I wouldn't mind this being one of the modes in Wolves' Den, but open world no. Just no. Keep the PvP to Wolves' Den and Frontlines.
They do it in DCUO. And doesn't upset the real world. At all . Lol some ppl would quit if ppl can choose to spar with each other. It's just for fun . If they wanted they can add achievements but that's up to them
I don't mind for open world PVP duel
the only thing i'm worry is even if you got auto-denied request
You might end up getting /shout insult ... and there many who like PVP and will join the PVPer to insult the him for not doing Duel ... and the only reason to fix those insult that keep going on shout will be from PVPer saying "don't like it? then change server" ... do you think that nice?
cos i keep seing that answer in most forum or shout ... "you don't like it then change server" ..it's seems like in Real life get bully at school ... bully is not punish but the new kid have to change school to end up in another school who its get bully again ...
cos even if we change server ..in every server there is troll and bad community that will trash people that don't want to do what they want to do "Duel"
I support 1vs1 PVP ...i use to do that with my friend in an open world pvp"Rappelz"...But in the server i was the PVP duel was mostly at 1 popular spot where people was dueling each other. The duel request Harrasment stop when people start that specific Duel Zone spot. Im not asking for it to be a way like duty roulette and you got to wait for the queue ... but a special Zone like a city with many circle around it and in the circle you can dual each other ..and to enter it. Its the same way when you get to limsa only the loading of zone change. Would be Wolves Den new zone. Just an idea
second idea to support that would be if PVPer community decide to choose a spot in the world where most pvper meet so you would know who was to pvp and to aggree to not harrass people that dont want to pvp.and if you harrass that a GM call with chat proof woul put you in FF14 jail for few days atleast and if repeat ban for a time
P.S : Sorry for my english ^^
Really? You're comparing a game that was BUILT on PvP against a game built on PvE? There are so many things wrong with this argument that it's hard to take it seriously.
DCUO has dedicated PvP servers and an overworld designed specifically to accommodate player versus player battles. A visit to any PvP server means potentially fighting any villain or hero (depending on your chosen allegiance) without even consenting in advance, and each class is designed to work well against another. It's a rock-paper-scissors fighting style, which is totally different to FFXIV.
Horrible 1v1 balance issues aside, having players scrap wherever and whenever they want could easily prove disruptive to others playing. If they're going to add 1v1 at all, it would make more sense to house it in the Gladiator's Guild arena in Ul'dah so people can fight each other at their leisure.
I'd love to have this in game, don't even care if it's balanced, it's just a thing you can mess around with. Still don't get the people scared of harassment, I've heard of people getting reported for harassment all the time so if it bothers you that much just do that.

Couldn't agree more. As if harassment wasn't already existent in PVE. GMs already come down hard on harassment. Do people really expect it to be any different for dueling?I'd love to have this in game, don't even care if it's balanced, it's just a thing you can mess around with. While I'm not big into PVP...
I wouldn't mind this as a Wolves Den mode.
Guildies and I on RO used to go into an empty PVP map (they took copies of maps of the original main cities and set them as PVP zones) and duel for fun or play a deadly hide-and-go-seek ------
or just completely mess around for fun. Sometimes that messing about wasn't even dueling - like a STR/VIT whitesmith with natural fire def wearing all fire resistant gear guildleader and my Agi/Int Hindsight Sorcerer soul linked with firebolt set for hindsight.... and just wailing away with my book on my guild leader for shits, giggles and seeing crap tons of level 10 firebolts beating the snot outta him (and then a guildie decides to be funny and start something while we're distracted - and we promptly put them in their place... but it's all done with laughs at the end from all of us). Or just, "Okay I'm bored now, someone kill me *Everyone slaps the person out of the PVP zone all at once*" (as you're ejected from the PVP if you die twice)
Not a fan of parties coming in and steam rolling us on sight, though =p
But a duel offer requirement would alleviate that.
Every now and then I wish I could do the same thing. My MNK vs my old RO guild leader's NIN or my WHM vs whomever. or just poke around for shits and giggles. Not for bragging or 'better than thou' rights, but more like a friendly arm wrestles or sparring.
Worst I can see from implementing a duel system (with acceptance system) is harassment of the five year old child kind;
"omg u suk fight me"
"No"
"omg thats cause you suck so u wont fight me lolololol omg lol u suck"
Bad typing and all.
most our saying that duel is not suited for cooperation theme of eorzea, but cant you understand that duel is different from killing. my idea of a duel is a friendly matched or training that aims to lessen the hp to 1 and not zero. if you dont want a duel in the friendly zone areas, then that can be solved to an arena or training gorund of some sort. stop making issues that it can ruin the story because with the proper design it will never will.
