Duty finger? :P
You'll still be waiting till the tank ques.
All I play is Tank, I still have to wait for another tank if its an 8 man party. I grab a tank friend, the que is instant. Doesn't do shit if you increase the cap to 5 dps, still waiting on tanks.
Instead of throwing in an extra player, give that extra player reason to consider playing Tank/Healer.
Clearly even with the copious amounts of incentive to play these roles (fast/instant ques, mounts, exp/gold bonuses) its not enough for some people. Probably poor marketing on how fun tanking actually is.
Because if that 3rd dps just played tank instead, 3 other people would get a run.
The 3rd slot for dps is useless. I used to play a certain MMO that has the tank, 3 dps and healer style... Usually you wait over 30mins as dps in that game too, longest wait was 5 hours for a 5-man dungeonIn FFXIV it is usually 15-30 mins as dps with high level roulette taking 5-10mins to get in. Usually I spend my time on dailies, alex farming, crafting, leveling another class or chatting with my FC etc while I wait in que, so time isn't wasted. When I am in a hurry I will just que as healer to get my daily roulettes done

Actually I think that ability to queue up for duty when you have your chocobo out would make the queues shorter than adding another DPS slot.
Right at this moment there are probably hundreds of people who rather decided to take their chocobo for a casual stroll over the Eorzea than queue up.![]()

Definitely. This again is a self-perpetuating thing - it's quicker and easier to grind out the higher levels via FATEs, and it's easier to do that either in a group or with your chocobo out, both of which prevent you from queuing in DF. Apart from the daily roulette, I don't think I queued for a single dungeon from 30+ on my PLD, because in the time it took me to run through a dungeon with a 90% chance of getting horrible DPS that took forever to clear the place, I could just farm FATEs and get more XP.Actually I think that ability to queue up for duty when you have your chocobo out would make the queues shorter than adding another DPS slot.

Of course, the flip side is that when DPS are faced with 30+ minutes of queuing while they can't party or get their chocobo out, they'd probably rather drop out and grind FATEs as well, so it probably regulates both sides of the queue as much as each other...
Very much this. Doing stuff with your chocobo while qued would solve many annoyances and personally I have never understood why we can't do that. Just have the choco withdraw when everyone has accepted the duty. Another things was those quests you had do alone, just make the choco act like the player is in town when you enter one of those and we wouldn't have to constantly summon and withdraw him when doing main story.Actually I think that ability to queue up for duty when you have your chocobo out would make the queues shorter than adding another DPS slot.

For WoD I queue as a DPS, because I can get in much faster than if I went as tank.
I'm all for adding a third DPS for future dungeons. Current dungeons shouldn't be adjusted though.

No it wont. It will make them longer for dps. Tanks/healers don't have this problem since they don't have to wait for a queue most of the time. The queue up when they are ready, no need to pull a choco out since it won't be long. This will just add more to the dps poll then the others. That said I still hope they allow us to queue with a choco, I just don't see it helping queue times. It will just make them more tolerable.Actually I think that ability to queue up for duty when you have your chocobo out would make the queues shorter than adding another DPS slot.
