Dear Devs, please consider going to an Account-wide "Unlock" system for Glamour

Many MMO's are moving to a similar system of account-wide "Unlocks" for changing the appearance of your armor, and I feel that such would be hugely beneficial to FFXIV. It would remove the need for Character-specific Armoires, and it would even free up a *TON* of inventory-space from players, as we would no longer need to hold onto individual pieces of gear, which (likely) use far more data, anyways.

    It's a Win-Win, really.

If you're talking about something similar to what DC Universe Online does, I can get behind that. Failing that, how about a catalogue item that has the looks of a bunch of different sets of gear that we can use as references to glamour?

Ideally, yes. Obviously, you'd still need to use Prisms for actually *changing* your armor's appearance (since Prisms are actually a nice way to keep tradeskills valuable, beyond high-end crafting), but once you've acquired and Equipped an item, its appearance would be unlocked to use, account-wide, forever. Guild Wars 2 is probably a better approximation of what I'm thinking, but honestly, I'm not THAT picky.

The nice thing, too, is it would allow us to easily glamour Event-exclusive items between characters, such as the Gender-exclusive stuff. For example, I have the Male gear from the Lightning Returns event, but not the Female gear; with this kind of system, they'd automatically be made account-wide, so if I ever start a female character, she'd have those options, too!

Yes! Instead of having all that gear laying about, just have an in-game window with gear pieces "lit up" or unlocked to use, and stuff you have not won "grayed out" and unusable. It would look like a little catalog of all the dungeon gear sets, etc...and would save a lot of inventory space. I agree with keeping the need to use prisms, as well. Great idea!

I would really like something like this, hell, it wouldn't even have to be account wide. I'd even pay real money for this feature.

Kinda like what they did with guild wars 2? Maybe while they are at it do it for mounts and minions like WoW.

Guild Wars 2 has one of the best systems for this.

Skin unlocked, goes to your wardrobe. And after a few button presses, you change the look on the spot.

If we had something very close to this, I wouldn't have the inventory problem I have now with saving all the pieces of gear I like.
