    Preperations for 3.0

so last few days i have been thinking what will be usefull in 3.0 wich materials i should keep and wich i should throw away... at this point we dont realy know anything so my question is to all lvl 50 crafters what do you think how do you prepare for 3.0 wich materials are you saving up or are you not stocking up on anything (cause there should be new mats/recepies while we lvl through3.0)
for now i plan to stock up on shards crystals and clusters but besides that i dont have a clue what to save and what to get rid off...

Imo they might re use the casual gathered items again for low 50-53 items or so.
I.e twin thread, dark steel, hippo leather etc
Cuz expecting ppl to use 4 star materials for level 51 crafts is absurd and dumb game design lol.
Save potash, coke etc cuz who knows what they will do to it in 3.0.
Cuz SE has to start somewhere for crafting gear to transition into 3.0 leveling gear.
Having lucis etc will probably make u geared till late 50s so u'll be able to craft quite a bit without having to upgrade.

I think this because expecting ppl to be 4 star crafters and to have 4 star materials as base items for level 51 crafts is pretty dumb as it should be equivalent to a level 1-10 craft etc.

I agree with you that 4 star mats will not be needed but they can just as well introduce new set of mats and the 1 star will be worthless as well so i dont know hmmm

I don't know what the various starred level stuff is going to be come Heavensward. HOWEVER - I expect the addition of entirely new gathering/fishing spots, and the recipes to make use of those with little imported from ARR. The Ishgardians don't seem to import much, so it makes sense that whatever we can craft from there won't require much from the rest of the world either.

IMO the thing to stockpile will be shards, crystals, and clusters.

Pretty much a safe bet as the elemental catalysts r universal to crafting so unless SE for some reason changes crafting catalysts ( which i doubt )
Ur best and easiest option is just stockpiling shards, clusters etc.

they added hq variants of peacock ore, potash and the like for a reason. also if you look at the mb there is a bunch of new mats that are unobtainable right now that were not there before.

as for current mats anything timed will be needed especially the newer items but my guess is not to many recipes will call for current 4* mats until we get to level 57-58 recipes then any new timed rare mats will be for 60+ stuff,

I doubt they will use thwinthread and hippo leather and such so much in them since those mats have been done to death.

however that jute yarn could be needed to craft jute cloth and that's needed for new 60 crafter gear.?? just a guess but surely they wont just keep it for rugs and minions. also maybe retainer specific mats like taffeta cloth, floss silk and such might be useful.

either way my guess is that the new crafted 60 gear will require some new mats and some current rare mats

In terms of preparations for Heavensward - I've been trying to dig up as much information as I can but like others have said - their isn't much.

    The obvious: Stockpile Shards/Crystals/Clusters.

One thing that might be worth doing is making HQ GC Turn ins for whatever DOH you're going to level first.
Pre-completeling leves to turn in right at launch.
Also the Ixal dailies since the turn ins are clustered in one spot might be of value.

Using other MMO's as the trend though - I hope/doubt too many "Old world" 50 and under mats will be used in 50+ crafting.

There's likely to be a big market for level 30-49 equipment. When people unlock DRK, AST, and MCN at level 30, how likely is it that they'll have a set of level 30 gear handy to wear? They'll want to gear up fast, so expect a market rush for these mid-level items.

I was thinking the same thing actually.

Already making sets for the FC. I'm not sure how much it will be worth as a selling market though.. It probably isn't worth delaying getting to 60 in terms of net profits. =P

Maybe doing listings the night before launch and just hope for the best?

Once at 50 they'll equip their tome gear or whatever so that they can hop on the choo choo ishgard woot woot level 50-60 train.
