OK, just so I know I'm not going nuts (at least not for this reason), can someone confirm that Olgoi-Khorkhoi can actually be caught in the Sagolii Dunes during heat waves? I attempted to do this a couple of days ago and only managed to catch Caravan Eels if I managed to catch anything at all.

As of right now, my Gathering is at around 350+ minus Spinach Quiche with 3/4 Foragers pieces fully melded. A Supra fishing rod would be nice for making Emperor Fish farming an easier task.

I have been going through absolute hell trying to catch this fish. I managed to get one NQ one a few days ago. But I've since been through at least 6 heatwaves.

This pool of ... 10 possible fish that can be caught (HQs and NQs alike) makes for a hell of a time trying to even get the chance to mooch, then couple that with the brain-numbing amount of caravan eels and dune mantas that appear... not to mention that they get away so very often -- which is even more maddening.

If I didn't already catch one, I'd have given up hope that Olgoi even exists.

I, personally, am using fully melded forager's gear and a forager's rod.

My Gathering is: 355
My Perception is: 290 (+28 if I use an HQ Haddock Dip to at least try to up my HQ rate of Storm Riders -- this doesn't appear to even matter, at least to me)

This is driving me up a wall lol.

lol yes they do exist, I have the Lucis rod to prove it Just got to keep at it....

My first attempt at it, I begged for the FC buff and managed to hit 4-5 heatwaves. Got a bunch of eels and3 lost catches, so I gave up. Came back to it maybe a month later and finished it in 2 days. Yay RNG.

The fact that you've gone several heatwaves without even a nibble is not at all unusual a story.

Pro tip: show up early and pop your food a much as 2 hours game time early (it will last the entire window this way), and fish til you get the mooch. Hold on to it until the weather hits, and your first fish has that chance of being the oogly fish.

If you think they are bad, the clams for lucis have a 9 minute window every 72 minutes. And you need 30 HQ. And you have to use a jig to catch them. And about a third of the time they get away regardless of your stats, sometimes with your jig. On the plus side they aren't a mooch, and you should be able to get enough in under 100 windows.

I have to sadly agree with this. Once you hit the gathering requirement, rest is just RNG to hook them and reel in.

Wow. With all of my belly-aching.. I finally got my last two Olgoi-khorkhois.

I prepped ahead of the heatwave by catching an HQ Storm Rider like StouterTaru suggested -- caught the first. Fished a bit more, maybe about 3 or 4 more fish, then got the Storm Rider HQ, then got another Olgoi.
