agree with Winterclaw
Storyline missions: Where's the challenge, the boss fights the battles.
Leves: I just don't find leves fun, either too easy or too hard, everyone just zergs everything, if its too hard just lower difficulty and its too easy, its hard to find a good balance.
Also leves are just too similar, even r40 leves are just slight variations of r1 leves.
Party based leves have no strategy, its just a zerg spam fest, battles are over too quickly to have any time to implement any strategy.
Too much running back and forth, kill mob, run to point b, kill run to point c, kill run to point a etc.
Crafting: the mini game is a chore, really can't stand crafting for more than about 15 or so minutes before the grind gets to me.
Making things and the drawn out process of acquiring ingredients, some stuff just needs way too many ingredients, it can take a huge amount of time to track down everything you need, or you can make all the bits, which requires more and more items and different crafts, it becomes too much hassle to even try.
Locations: Huge areas, way too big and everything looks the same, instead of ranking 1 to 50 in 3 themed areas i'd have go for smaller areas and more of them, more variation, really its dissapointing doing r40 leves in an area that looks the same as when I did r1 leves, we need more places to discover, to travel to and have a sense of adventure.
Anima: either give unlimited anima or introduce other means of travel other than running.
Challenge: where is it? leves are not challenging because if its slightly too hard everyone wants to drop the difficulty, no point buying new gear and pimping out your character when you can just drop the difficulty at will, how about some bcnm type stuff which is a real challenge and motivates you to go into the battle with the best gear you can or chances are you'll have a hard time winning.
Equipment: not having caps on what gear you can use is just pointless, r10's running around in r50 gear, where's the motivation to gain those extra ranks so you can then have access to some new gear, just buy them now and rank up later, it just feels like kind of pointless.
I stopped playing a few weeks ago, taking a break, let my anima regen etc and looked forward to coming back to check out the new quests, finally some new content, then I read what they were like... didn't even bother to log on and check them out, sounds like they really are dissapointing, some text and go kill 8x of some mob, sounds like more leves to me without xp.
I would like quests like the Opo Opo Crown quest in FFXI, it had cutscenes, story, adventure to a challenging area, with mobs you needed friends help to beat, and finally a nice Crown for your efforts that stood out, it showed you put some work into you character and felt like good to get.
I'll be back when the game feels more complete, more content, more locations, more challenge, more goals, until then I see no point ranking up and grinding it out.
Dear SE why you mess with the GuildLeves timer, Now we have to wait 39+hrs Real life time to do guild leves. That was only thing kept me playing FF14 cause that was my favorite part of the game. The 24hrs that you had before was OK now i have wait 2days that pisses me off now.
What made me stop playing was the fact that uldah wards crash multiple times a day. It almost seems intentional, like some resets it to clear the retainers out. After all this time they haven't fixed it. Just neglect, they must feel it's an unimportant aspect of the game. Neglect neglect..
Gear damage was a big contender for me. Especially with weapons, i can't remember exactly but I'm sure it wasn't much over an hour before my lance would be damaged.. the frequency of this caused me to level GS up to repair it out in the field, then i learned my next lance would require Carpentry, and enough was enough. Its one of the biggest annoyances i found with the game, for me it didn't add realism, it wasn't a cute little gimmick, it was a huge inconvenience that halted my enjoyment of the game.
Lack of quests.
I don't view the added sidequests as anything more than leves with even less rewards.
I played XI because the world was alive and interesting filled with cutscenes and stories.
Still waiting for real quest before I commit more time to this game.
I guess theres no reasoning when it comes to you. The game is free for a reason. Because it didn't live up to the hype and if they were to start charging people, I sure as hell would stop playing overall. What do you expect all of us to do to keep giving positive response to a game that isn't suppose to be free to play?
My main reason for not playing is lack of people online to party with. im not sure if its just my server (mysidia) or just not alot of ppl in general. if i could grind in groups often i would ocntinue playing because honestly they have fixed alot of issues since launch
The reason I stopped playing as much is because its not that I DON'T want to play but just thinking of doing crafting alone is going to take hours. I got a life to attend to. The reason why games like WoW is so popular is because its a easy game. Ppl can still have a life (for the most part) and not be left behind in the game.
