I played during beta and 2 or so weeks after released. I realized that the development team then had no real plans to improve core aspects of the game. There was (And still is, but at least it has direction now) a major lack of content, and many issues with latency and skill input as well as the menus. Its far from good now, but I have faith in the current team, its my new linkshell that keeps me going.

    I stopped playing because:

    1) I could not find a decent group of people to party with for experience. The few good experience parties i got in were Japanese players mostly. I could never find anyone looking for a party with the search feature.

    2) I do not like the limitations of the guildleve system. I believe they could have improved guildleve having them scale in difficulty as you go instead of limiting you to 8 per day. That way people would eventually be forced to party to complete harder "quests".

    3) I did not feel immersed in the story. They could have more cut scenes or less for all i care but it seems to me that what is happening in the world was not made apparent and was just a dull buildup. I know SE is capable of a more thought out story line than this one.

i know allot of you support the armory system and i don't hate it BUT ffxi has the best class/job system i have ever seen in an mmo (and i have played quite a few). How could they scrap that and start over? I dislike how you can't switch from gladiator to conjurer and instantly have all attributes correlate with the new class.

    So many reasons...

But to sum it up, I stopped playing FFXIV because I was not having much fun at all. I enjoy posting on this forum more than playing the game..

There wasn't anything to do. Fighting doblyns every single day for months is not fun.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

    1. Uninteresting combat. Actions and animations are boring, early monsters are boring, spamming is boring. Early targetting was a pain.
    2. Crap crafting. Too much interdependency on crafting makes it hard to level just one or two crafting classes. Crafting minigame was super annoying. No recipe book sucked.
    3. No jump/swim/chocobos/mounts/etc. Running everywhere blows, and bumping into invisible walls and getting stuck on tiny ridges that barely reach my knees breaks immersion.
    4. No interesting lore that jumps out at you like in FFXI. What little there is, is definitely not as charming as FFXI's.
    5. Tanaka.

I know most of those were fixed, but the game doesn't have enough stuff for me to want to come back to it yet. I'm keeping a close eye on it though.

I barely play because at the moment everything feels like a waste of time. It's too easy, the quest system is lacking excitment and we don't even know what the battle system is going to become. Also the battles are boring. I chose CON to nuke stuff but all I am asked to do is spam cure.

I also seldomly play because I don't want to be r50. SE keeps adding quests but I had the feeling they'd start low. The game already is too easy and doing r15 quests as r50 is just pointless for me.

It's not that I didn't have fun in the beginning! It's just that I rather want to wait for the game to have at least a decent battle system along with some CS quests.

Then again, I'm just annoyed of this easy mode SE is implementing. Yes, I don't want to wait for a party invite for three hours, but I also don't want an aggro icon. Or a (probably soon to come) repair NPC that repairs everything to 100%. Or no real death penalty. Or the dreaded teleporting system. It should be limited so you only use it when you're in a hurry, but that would also mean that SE must implement other means of transportation (I won't name them..).

As much as I hate elitism and needless timesinks (and XI had alot), I think I hate casualising even more. I blame the Wii for that. Look at ME2 and DA2. But that's another topic.

I've put the game down for now b/c I've done all their is to do to this point. All storyline quests done, one rank 50 another class to 46, couple gathering and crafting classes around 30~. There's just nothing to do, NM fights are fun and all, but what to do when you've dropped gear for your entire linkshell? Faction NM drops are the only thing really left for me at this point, but I'm nowhere near motivated enough to continue building up faction credits daily. The 1.16 patch really turned me off . . . there's just something about going to Broken Water to see those agro icons everywhere *shudders*
