The way the current world map is set up, running from one camp to another sans anima still lacks any sense of "accomplishment". Once they re-vamp the entire map and make things feel less like "Hey, I feel like I've been running on a treadmill with the same backdrop going for 20 minutes", I can see that sense of accomplishment coming back, allowing people to actually appreciate the journey from point A to point B. As it stands, no one (casual) is doing themselves any favors by dropping half of their available play time into saying, "I'm hardcore because I took the long way around."

I may disagree with the "immersion" crowd on a lot of things but I do believe you should have to earn your access to the teleports even if for no reason other than to familiarize the player with the areas. It's only a one-time thing anyway.

Please god no. I don't want tele taxis in this game too. I'll agree with the overall point of this thread tho, yes, you should have to touch the crag before you can tele there. That's how it was when the game first started and I'm amazed that they changed it. But with the lack of chocobos or some sort of faster travel, people just complained that walking took too long and was tedious. It's an endless game of back-and-forth that will never be won. I personally feel that having the OPTION to teleport is cool (like I said, touching crag OUGHT to be reimplemented) because I just don't have as much time to play XIV as I did XI when I was 14 years old and didn't have shit for responsibility. I can jump on, do some quick leves, then log off until reset without spending 20-30min teleing/walking around, carrying 3-4 warp cudgels, or hoping my nation had OP. If I can piggyback on someone to get to a grinding PT quick, amazing. I don't want to get kicked out of a PT because I didn't have the crag like in FFXI, I feel like there was no room for being casual in that game.

All in all, they should change it back to having to touch the crag first but will it really change anything about the game? Personally, I don't believe so.

First i have not read all the posts in this thread tbh

About teleporting, well i think SE made it this way to shorten the time of travelling. We all know that all the regions in xiv are HUGE (Bigger than Meriphataud Mountains in XI) so basically their idea is to shorter the time between zones. What i mean imagine the game without teleport for just 1min and trust me you will say "Stupid Game".I admit that SE have failed in the teleporting system and they should have made it after the introduction of the chocobos and airships as a magic spell. Or make anima as an award for some leves.
So basically my point here teleporting is made to shorten your time travel. If you would like to see the nature and explore the areas explore its ok do it.

I don't like the "easy mode" too, but I have to say that this world doesn't excite me so much... Exploration should be a great component of the game, but it needs DIFFERENT places to visit, each with its monster, plant life, MUSIC!!! I hope in the future SE will implement all these stuffs.

Switch to Rank 1 Class, try to run through Mor Dhona without getting killed and collect the camp tele's for that area.

    I found the challenge

But yeah, when I rolled a new character it was all just "run here, collect tele, run here, collect tele, run here, collect tele" and I'd seen Thanalan so much it was just... urgh.

Can't wait for chocobos just so the scenery will pass by quicker.

There could be a Slow Mode ( maybe FFXI, as you say ), a Normal Mode and a Fast Mode ( like the one SE wants to implement ). I say that 10 minutes of wait plus 10 more minutes of route for the Ferry it's a huge amount of time, but on the other hand 1 second would be too little... Always exists a moderate way to make things!

    P.S.
I hope my english is understandable.

You're English is fine. I think they should give players a reason to choose different transport methods beyond, "I need to go to this place". Having an airship battle, raising a chocobo, or fighting on your chocobo are all great ideas to me.

Differentiate the different methods of transport by their journeys, not the speed to their destinations.

Well I'm sure the journal read something to the effect of "travel to camp blah blah blah and rendezvous with blah blah blah" so I feel like travel was intended as part of the adventure. Players have little reason to visit Mor Dhona prior to the R46 mission, depending on class, so it might have been a good idea to ensure that players didn't take a shortcut.

I feel like when a game developer conducts players through the game world, he should ensure that completing quest objectives are not more important than the journey taken in order to complete them.

But i guess I see your point. Sometimes the quest should be enough in an of itself and exploration would not even be enjoyable if it was imposed upon you forcefully.

But it's just balance, I guess. Immersion vs Convenience. It's hard to grasp the scope of a game when you're just teleporting around it 90% of the time. But it's also no fun having to walk everywhere either.
