I actually agree that you should have to touch an aether gate before anyone is able to teleport you to it.

I actually was mostly joking about the maps. I think it would be fine if they started out showing the areas that are along the main roads leading between cities, and the rest being quested/filled in as you go (I'd like both options to be used). However this is all dependent on how good of a job they do at making the new maps unique, since as it is now without a map you really have no hope of finding your way at all.
The only issue we run into is the journal map markers. If the map is hidden, I dunno how they would handle showing you where to go if it's a place you haven't been to, especially if it's somewhere like Mor Dhona where there are most likely multiple entrances you haven't been to yet.
You shouldn't worry about the chocobo license or airship license though. They haven't said anything about the airship license if there is any, but they have said that getting a personal chocobo will require doing a lot of work for the companies. I'm sure they know how important a chocobo quest is for many people.
Why?
Because you do not know how to not use the option?
Here, let me help you - when the game offers you the option to teleport just click "no".
There, now you will not teleport anymore unless you want to, hope that helped!

Wait a minute. For all you guys who are saying getting nodes isn't challenging, have you actually tried to walk to all the nodes? I mean all of them, not just the leave locations.
I can tell you that I have tried most and there is nothing easy about quite a few of them. For some nodes you need at least two full parties, everyone having raise and chainspell, and a lot of time on your hands.

I have walked to all but six camps in the game. Some of them are hard some are damn near impossible, but that is the fun part. I fyou can't make the walk you can't use the camp. This game lets you pay someone to take you there or have a friend port you around without ever having been near the location. It is both lore breaking and excessively easy.Wait a minute. Lore breaking because you are supposed to have to attune yourself to the crystals and excessively easy because you never have to put in any effort to get anywhere.
Of course get anywhere won't matter anymore since we are getting instant travel airships..

You can already teleport to the Aetheryte crystals in town. That's a moot point. As soon as they develop legitimate content for the airship besides a repetitive cutscene and a bs matching game then I'll start using the non-instant option.I have walked to all but six camps in the game. It is both loreIt's not lore breaking as the lore has not expressly condemned or condoned pooling anima resources. breaking and excessively easy. For some camps. The harder gates still cannot be obtained through sharing teleports. This negates your point.

i've heard alot of them are challenging as well, bigger thing is that after you spent a day getting to them all, everyone else will spend a second porting there from you or another lol. ..yeah u'r choice? lol w/e i wouldn't waist a minute doing anything in a game everyone else isn't doing and i'm sure most are the same. they should bring back the idea's from ffxi for this part of the game. personally i'm tired of choices, there should only be one way about each thing even if there are both ideas in the game for 2 diff things. ...Wait a minute. but i don't have problem with no boat ride, instant ride is awesome ...sorry that is just a waist of time, first times are not, doing things 1-2 times is enough, then getting to do things a little more easier is cool. earn it then deserve it. run once, that is all, we play mmo's for years not 2-3months. witch is probably the amount of time waisted on riding boat by time u quit a 5year run><

Ehm, no?
Players can't teleport directly to the nodes (if they are the smaller camps. I don't know the right name). The teleport to the nodes are only available with a main aetherit. You must to run to the nodes first and you can't teleport another players to them.
You run to Halitali, touch the node and then you can teleport Camp Skull Valley <---> Halitali with the Aetherit/Node menu (cost 1 Anima).

You're tired of choices. I really don't hope you impart that philosophy onto the development team. That will absolutely kill this game.i've heard alot of them are challenging as well, bigger thing is that after you spent a day getting to them all, everyone else will spend a second porting there from you or another lol. ..yeah u'r choice? lol w/e i wouldn't waist a minute doing anything in a game everyone else isn't doing and i'm sure most are the same. they should bring back the idea's from ffxi for this part of the game. personally i'm tired of choices, there should only be one way about each thing even if there are both ideas in the game for 2 diff things. ...

I think im at 50/62 and have gotten all of them solo (including one my LS says is one of the 2 most difficult, Oakwood)... Lasthold is going to be challenging though.Wait a minute. For all you guys who are saying getting nodes isn't challenging, have you actually tried to walk to all the nodes? I mean all of them, not just the leave locations.

Oakwood woulda been really easy with 1 person sac running the Smolenkos for me however... At -most- you only need 2 people to get all the nodes... ive gotten far enough to Lasthold solo to know 1 person sac running can get the 2nd close enough to make it there alive and if thats the most difficult one I have left the rest should be np to do w/2 since i've cleared all of Coerthas/Uldah/Mordana/Limsa solo
Oh South Bloodshore was fun too, had a train of ~14 L70 crabs on me. Abusing deflection and Aegis Boon is fun.... Sentinel/Quickstride isn't the only way to make it to these nodes.
