At first, I was of the same opinion as you. However, I have since had some reservations about it.

Increasing the range would make playing an archer or mage even easier, to the detriment of the other melee DD classes.

If an archer or mage gets hate, which is the tradeoff for being such useful classes, then it should fall down to that ranged class to know how to play well, and come closer to the tank when his enmity is high in order to get accompliced.
