tournament match fatigue

This is probably going to come across as pointless whining (because it is) but is anyone else tired of tournaments having 40-50 matches? Didn't the tournaments start out with only 16-20 matches?

I know that they've been increasing the number of matches as a deterrent to cheating (like that works), and it was originally a blessing in helping to get achievements for tournament wins.

But man, I log in just to do the tournament (I'm taking a break except for gold saucer) and the games just keep coming.

(edit) and finally done. 50 games in a little over an hour. I mean, I like card games and ice cream, but I don't like eating ice cream for an hour straight.

Yeah I agree. I outlined in a different thread on this sub-forum (quite lengthy, like I usually am... Edit: Was bored so I found the post.) how I feel that the increased amount of tourney matches actually made it tougher for legit players to place in the top 20 because the people using alts to work their way up the leaderboard are going to do it regardless of how many matches they need to boost. Back when it was 15 matches per tourney there was at least a remote hope that you could win all of your games. When you have to play 50, its basically impossible.

I just NPC mine now, and I can barely bring myself to do that. It's so time consuming.

I don't think the tourney length increased to deter cheating. I think the tourney length increased to better represent the grind the tournament became. No more exclusive rewards for placing, everyone gets the same or similar prize except for the top 3 (which you have no chance of making unless you log on as soon as the tourney starts and grind 50 wins against alts). It is a tournament now in name only.

50 is too much. I've actually stopped at 4,000 points as this will net me 4 platinum cards and there were not enough matches left to reach 5k.

Yeah, I guess it's 1 platinum card for 1000 points? So long tournaments help you win more cards, but if that is all they are going for, just double the # of points per match. Anyway, I guess it isn't too big a deal, just strange to blow an hour and a half playing against the same npc over and over.

it should give you some good gil if you are ranked and sell your left games

It's not just points for platinum cards. I think the number of wins is relevant as well.

It seems to be a different threshold for platinum packs with each tournament. It probably depends on how many matches are available.

15 was nothing ..50 is too much, they should just stick to 30 matches at maximum, i dont see any sense in different tournaments, having a different amount of matches to play anyways.
