    Race-related skill or God-related skill?

    I'd like to discuss these topics:
    How would you guys like a Racial skill? You could earn it at lower levels and it would be story-related, maybe to your clan, the village where you grew up or something?
    And what about a Godly skill? Not Rage of Halone, I'm talking about a skill related to the deity you choose at the beggining. It could be a high level mission and you would know more about your protector or something...

    Obviously, these skills would be independent of class/job and you would be able to use them with any class. IMO, this would improve the way we customize our characters...

    I always thought they should work with the deity choice a bit more so it has impact.

    For example.

    Halone's Fury - Passive. Increases DEX/STR by 2%.
    Menphina's Love - Passive. Increases Def/Mdef by 10%.
    Thaliak's Wisdom - Passive. Increases INT/MND by 2%.
    Nymeia's Fate - Increases Crit chance by 10% for 10 seconds. Recast 15m.
    Lymlaen's Direction - Passive. Reduces teleport and transportation fees by 50%.
    Oschon's Journey - Passive. Increases move speed by 2%.
    Byregot's Touch - Passive. Reduces the CP cost for all DoH skills by 5%.
    Rhalgr's Wrath - Increases all damage by 10% for 10s. Recast 15m.
    Azeyma's Warmth - Passive. Increases HP/MP regeneration by 10% out of combat/5% in combat.
    Nald'thal's Gift - Passive. Increases gil from items sold to NPCs by 5%.
    Nophica's Care - Passive. Reduces GP cost for all DoL skills by 5%.
    Althyk's Control - Resets all active skill cool downs. Recast 10m.

    These are purely examples. They are not supposed to be balanced.

    Balancing would be a nightmare, there will always be a meta on what race or diety you're supposed to get this anyone not falling into that category would end up being alienated in one way or another.

    To be honest, if majority of our community can't even see that whm and sch both have pros and cons and one doesnt necessarily have an advantage over the other. Or if healers should dps or not. Or always piting the 3 melee dps against each other instead of realizing that they all bring something to the party that compliments the party in some way, how would this community handle race skills? "God" skills? Yea....it's gonna be a nightmare here in the forums.

    Yeah...don't get me wrong I'd love to have Race/Tribe/Diety based strengths and weaknesses...but I'm not holding my breath.

    It would reduce customization by adding incentive for people to pick optimal racials for their chosen job.

    The racial stat bonuses in place right now don't get (much) complaint because the differences are very small and are mostly a matter of flavor.

    Adding more variety is a good idea, but anything that locks players into sub-optimal performance, short of re-rolling entirely, will make people unhappy.

    I would like to see something like this (mostly considering the deity side of things, but applies to races too), but just to point out some of the obvious things the devs would have to tackle,

    1. If the skills were more useful to one job/role than another, difficulty in switching would push people to run one specific job more often.

    2. You would have to be able to switch deities on (at least) all characters rolled up until this point so people aren't screwed over on the deity they chose when it didn't matter.

    3. can't have anything over/underpowered relative to each other

    Also, 12 unique skills is quite a few to balance to each other, so keeping them unique may also be difficult. I mean, I'm sure they could come up with things, but one way or another I feel like there would be a big push for either switching deity at the drop of a hat or an increased push by the devs to get people to play one job primarily.

    How about the quests? I think a storyline with the deity you choose to protect or represent would be awesome!! You could get a title and a full costume for glamour then. People could be the "Paladin of Halone" or the "Scholar of Althyk" or other title that isn't job-related...
    We could have a title or a costume for races too, other than that Lv.1 we start the game with...

    This would be nice, do a handful of quests, like say 1-5 total, where the first 4 are the same, and whatever Guardian Deity you have determines the last. Kind of like in 1.23 you could go /pray to certain stones and when you got to your guardian's you got a vanity ring for it. Making it a title, even a "customizable" title, like <class> of <Guardian>, or something like Defender/Sword/etc of <Guardian>. I'd like to have "The Sword of Oschon" as my title, but I'm happy with "The Sword of La Noscea" for now...

    Deitys are two for every element so it could be a skill that buff defense/damage against that element, A light gathering bonus to your deity element crystals.

    While for races skill, it could be something non-combat. Like miqo'tes sun doing higher jumps while miqo'tes moon getting less damage from falling. Highlanders a longer sprint. Seawolves faster regenarating TP/MP/HP near the sea/water while hellguards in mountains area and hot places. Plainfolks can have two minions at the same time XD and so on..
