Are gil spammers crashing anyone else's crafting macros?

I play on Leviathan and this morning (around 6am PST) a new gil seller started spamming (literally) about every 45 seconds for over 2 hours. Not only that, but I had four "2 and 3 star" macros interrupted by his spam ads at a loss of close to 400k worth of goodies that my little Oompa Loompa busted her chubby butt to make. I had people tell me that it's not possible for a "chat box message" like these bottom feeders spew forth to interfere with a macro, except that there were SEVERAL of us (3 that I personally talked to) who had identical crafting failures that occurred simultaneously with the spam ad pop-ups. We're not taking about "NQ with all HQ ingredient" type fails, in one example we're talking about the 3rd of 5 "basic touch" commands being "not a valid action" which screws up the entire crafting and guarantees a failure. They were all macros I stole (cough cough), I mean BORROWED from SeleneVenizelos, and they don't fail. I'm told that the only way this could happen is if someone (like the gil spammer) was able to hack the game. Well, it happened, so I guess the game was hacked. I filed an in-game and forum bug report, for whatever good that'll do. I'm open to ANY ideas or suggestions, just don't be insulting and insist that it couldn't have happened.

For the record, I'm MoH and MoL so I have all cross skills.

If the tells from RMT spam really do crash the macro, I would just set your status to busy before doing them. Busy status blocks all tells, so that should solve your issue.

RMT chat spam / friend request should not interrupt any user actions. You need to be specific, otherwise, I think you're using third party tool rely on chat macro. illegal, against ToS.

Lag causes macros to fail if you use any <wait.X> in it.
