What new race would you like?

I really like the faun as well. I think the above mentioned allagan/cyborg race would fit in though I don't care for them personally.

I agree that the way gear is modeled contributes to the reason why so many races are the basic shape of humans. In some other games when more beastly races were added (especially when added late) there were problems with gear fitting and clipping.

Just look at the au ra vs what we have now. Miqote and au ra females look like cosplayers to me. Basically cutesy humans with glued on ears/scales/tails. The males' physique is (to me) very much like the male elezen. Had the au ra been more dragony they'd probably have their faces clipping out of helms (if they even fit) and pants not covering the legs correctly, as example.

It'd be a lot of work to go back and redo all gear models for one race that would probably not even be nearly as popular as going the cute humanlike cosplayer route. Look how popular fem roe turned out, even though people kept going on about how amazing female counterparts (to galka) would be if implemented years ago. (I do love these and have an alt fem roe but never made it past 20 or so due to time constraint)

Crow Fall has some nice looking races that I'm interested in playing. Minotaurs and Centaurs for starters. Also, a lot of the races from Bless look great.

I enjoy FF's aesthetic but I agree we need more non-human looking races.

Aside from the lalas, the females from every race look like their waist is smaller than my bicep. I'd like to see more females with curves. I'd also like to see a race that's more bestial.

While I don't know how other MMOs handled this particular conundrum (if that conundrum even exists), a problem with adding beastial races to FFXIV is that the game has a pretty clear division between the "player races" and the "beastman races". There's a reason why Ixali can refer to a player as "smoothskin" and for it to make sense regardless of what race they are! If true furries were added to the game, there'd have to be a reason why they're not just considered to be another variety of beastman.

That's the biggest reason why I doubt we'll ever see a furry race in FFXIV. Just humans with variants of size, limb proportions, and animal bits.

Viera would be awesome, problem is trying to fit them in somewhere to go with the game's lore. Unless dev team makes something up to accomodate them in distant future releases.
