    Can new players be an Au Ra?

    I have a friend who is interested in playing this game and she really liked the look of the Au Ra race. Would she be able to play one when she starts, or would she have to get to Heavensward first?

    My money is on that she will need Heavensward to unlock all its new content, which includes the Au Ra race.

    given Au Ra is being introduced as part of the Heavensward expansion, yes she would need Heavensward to play an Au Ra

    If the question is "Does she have BUY the expansion" yes. If you are asking "Does she have to get to Ishgard, I am pretty sure the answer is no, you can roll an Au Ra at character gen if you own the ex-pack.

    She would have to get Heavensward, but unlike the new jobs your friend should be able to start immediatly as an Au Ra once/if they get it.

    To be more specific, as long as she owns both ff14 and its xpac Heavensward she will be able to make an Au'ra from the very start. She doesn't need to reach Heavensward story first or anything lol.

    You get a free fantasia so if she just got ffxiv and then got the expansion later she could change for free.

    Fixed this for you, as some my start to think you get a fantasia for having/preordering the expansion (when in fact only CE preorder get the fantasia)

    If your friend gets the combo pack that includes Heavensward and the base game she can make an Au Ra and start the game as lv1.

    You can start as an Au Ra at level one if you own the expansion. No unlocking required.
