Invisible shield suggestion?

Actually in a description of MRD it says they carry a throwing axe called francisca. Can't explain the shield though.

Personally always explained it by the affinty to magic Paladins have, some minor recall spell. Without a "magic" explanation though, heh.. >.<;;
