Just use the small buckler shields, works especially well if you are wearing heavier armours.

I don't remember if it was actually in a Live Letter, but it was brought up on the forums last month.
From a World setting and story perspective, not having a visible shield would mean that you couldn't use shield bash or shield lob, and as such we have no plans to introduce an "Emperor's New Shield." However, we may be able to make a small shield so that it doesn't stand out too much, so we will look into that.

Well, there's a relatively simple answer that would make a nice compromise.
Make a shield that's transparent. It's still there, but when there are no effects going on, it'd be difficult to see.

For some reason thinking about what that would look like made me laugh a bit. But yes that sounds like a great idea!
I was thinking of a Magitek Shield of sorts, that's basically just a bracelet until you get in a fight, then it emits a shield-shaped energy field. For shield lob I guess it'd take a different animation than what we have, though.
Not that that's important, in my opinion. If they think shield lobbing doesn't make sense if you can't see the shield, I ask; In which world does it make sense to throw your one and only shield at your opponent, only for it to reappear in your hand the very next second? Shield lob is a nonsensical skill in the first place.

At least if it were like that, it could run back to you.

Man, if that bugs you, MRD/WAR's Weapon Throw must drive you crazy. XDNot that that's important, in my opinion. Honestly, though, the concept of an invisible shield is okay to me, except for the fact the way your arm will be cocked as though holding a shield even when you're not. That kind of thing already makes crafters' and gatherers' drawn-weapon /changepose look hilariously bad, and I doubt it'll look any better on an actual GLD/PLD.

Pretty funny I actually think the bent arm looks really cool without a shield! With /changepose it looks like I'm saluting.Man, if that bugs you, MRD/WAR's Weapon Throw must drive you crazy. XD
