The use of meters will inspire some people to get better gear and learn their job better because they want to be at the top, we all benefit. Some people will improve enough so they are not always at the bottom, we all benefit. Some people will not queue for group content anymore because they are always at the bottom, most of us benefit. Some people may stop playing entirely, sadly, most of will still benefit. Some people's feelings will get hurt, not a benefit at all but "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one."
