Which encounter?
There is only one endgame/primal encounter where being "marked" is impossible to bounce back from without Perfect Balance.
As I said before, can't see the trees through the forest, it's a hypothetical analogy for mechanics lowering your dps due to just plain old RNG picking on you for that run.
I lose my stacks quite a few times for reasons I can't control in Turn 9.
Second meteorstream in phase 1.
First and Second Golem drop.
Second meteor drop on party.
During the megaflare countdown.
During meteorstream in phase 4 (divebombs).
I usually parse the highest a lot of the times anyways. I somehow think SE planned the classes with these details in mind.
No it doesn't. Kicking people for the inability to perform their role is something that is generally accepted DF included. Majority of the situations that people usually justify kicking for lack of performance are bad tanking/healing and not DPS. The fact that a question has to be asked whether is it acceptable to kick a DPS for being incapable of fulfilling his role is what I'm suggesting is the double standard whether you view it that way or not. If you believe that everyone should be held accountable then good for you. That doesn't mean the double standard doesn't exist in the context of this thread.
Almost every marking mechanic in endgame can be handled while preserving GL. Your "hypothetical example" evidences a monk who has more to learn, or a monk dealing with a very specific encounter.
Do you believe this is reason enough to forbid parsers? Because one extraordinarily unlucky monk needs to git gud?
I dunno, we had a really really god awful tank in a Halatali normal run once when I was leveling dragoon. So I equipped provoke and some enmity cross skills and proceeded to protect the healer and tank bosses cuz the tank could not hold hate at all. I used to try to help people learn but I have had too many experiences where i was being as nice as possible with my approach and I was met with "stfu" attitude. So instead of kicking the tank and waiting around for a new tank, I picked up his slack and we beat the dungeon.
What I feel the problem is is too many people are oversensitive to criticism. I feel like at times I can't be nice enough to someone and they would STILL turn hostile towards me. You have to accept criticism or you will never self-improve... Or at least be able to criticize yourself so you can see your flaws. A perfect example was this T12 group I was in. I watch the fireball go through our melee DPS and we wiped cuz of it so I immediately said,
"I guess melee DPS is in a zone and I ain't talking about the Auto Zone".
The dragoon says, "????"
I said, "The fireball blew up right next to you guys."
He said, "STFU The fireball passed right through us. Ohhh ohhh it's the melee DPS. Fkin our fault it can't be anyone else's fault."
And he just ranted on and on and on and on and on until I just called an abandon on the duty and it passed. Like really? That's why we have a player skill issue.

This is what I'd like to see, albeit with less noble intentions. To me, comparing yourself to just the party is too small a scope. Not to mention it wouldn't really give you anything substantial unless you run with the same party all the time. Some runs you might be 3rd highest, other runs you might be 1st without changing anything. Would that encourage you? Not saying it doesn't have its own merit, just that I'd like to think...bigger.How about this - At the end, a window showing lvl/ilvl and your healing/DPS/Defensive scores (based on your job, or not) - and then comparing to the dungeon/trial/raid's average (collected from scores of other random players of similar level - or ilvl if it's level 50 content - that have gone through the dungeon over the past x days) for your role - AND only shown to you, about you. You then have something to compare it to so you can see if you're doing average (and those that don't want to be average can start looking into adjusting their rotation/hunting for info or advice), below average (and again look to better yourself) or above average - in which case, 'good jeorbs'.
I figured 'averages' for dungeons so that it's not directly comparing yourself to the other party members, but rather a % of players - to avoid some of the issues people were stating earlier (player harassment, etc).
Or, if you REALLY wanted comparisons within the party, perhaps bring up the screen AFTER the duty is over (I guess this would only work in DF and not in PF since there would be no anonymity after the run ends in PF) so the people can see the numbers, but not be harassed or do any harassing (or low chance of it). If they want to better themselves, that's still a conscious thought and drive they would have to have regardless if they saw the stats with or without the rest of the party there. People that don't want to just won't, regardless the advice or information given.
You went completely off topic. When did I ever mention tanks and healer roles at all? You're not getting the point I brought up whatsoever. I said nothing even remotely close that even resembled me condoning a double standard. You do know what a rhetorical question is, right? The point I brought up flew over your head completely. All that typing you just did for no reason.
My original topic: Nothing I said shows that I personally hold a double standard, yet you accuse me of it.

Where are your savage clears
LOL
Since I havn't beaten the final turn must mean I suck. At no point is a dps meter going to get my past T13 i will say that. If you would read my posts, I am clearly in favor of having in game dps. I just don't buy the argument that everyone needs to see it. It can easily be shared, by people who are raiding together on a regular basis. Which is clearly the majority if not all World First Clears.
The point is what you assumed about me is irrelevant to the discussion. If you really want a full in game dps meter. Then you should be for my proposal which will pave the way for such an implementation. Seeing your own DPS in game is a huge step towards the very thing all of you are calling for. And would have literally 0 negative consequences.
Hate to say it, but haters gonna hate.
Hoarders gonna Horde.
