I was in a party for T13 the other day.
Our DPS was so low, depsite echo, that we almost got a 5th set of flare stars.
We reached the add phase at 7:30+
Virtually impossible to clear T13 because DPS was too low.

The reason was an assembly of bad DPS.
A single of those DPS in an otherwise good party might've been able to clear it, but what would that mean?
It would mean that this person is bad yet got a clear.
Now, this is not an entirely bad thing, but passing content without reaching the necessary skill level will leave players unprepared for the next content.

Much rather than your approach, i see it like this.

MNK is lowest DPS, but still strong enough to clear the content. Why would people kick him?
It's not like people would always kick the lowest DPS.

MNK is lowest DPS, below where he should be to actually get a clear.
He got targeted by mechanics? He lost Greased Lightning?
Where is he having issues, How can he improve his DPS, Where is he going wrong?
Instead of kicking him, the party could do an analysis based on the information provided.

Of course there is gonna be kicking people, there always is, regardless of official DPS tool or not.
But if there was an official DPS tool, it would give people incentive to do good.
It would give people some acknowledgement, recognition and appreciation as well.

Is it really for the best to leave bad players in the dark about their performance? Leaving them there to stay bad and rot?
I would see it as more of a positive change, even though it comes with downsides.
It also would take away from good players exclusivity, which they probably wouldn't like.

Although i don't see SE ever doing something like this anyway? :>
