hi all,

ok my main machine has had to go back to manufacturer for repair on a motherboard fault, so ive dusted off my old 1 which is running on xp pro sp3 p5n-e-sli mb 2x gforce 8500GT cards with a dual core intel 6320 @1.86ghz cpu. well the problem i have is that i cannot change anything in the ffxivconfig video settings so im stuck in windowed mode at a lower res than my screen (screen is 1440x900 game stuck at 1280x720) very time i try to change anything i get "ffxivconfig.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close etc etc. i dont mind playing in windowed mode but not when its smaller than my sreen as its off putting seeing other things outside the window any help would be much appreciated thanx in advance. game is also running very laggy pretty much unplayable in uld'ah

Try ffxiv config->general->font settings->use windows system font-> pick any font->okay and try again. Of course you can disable windows font again after that.
If that doesn't help you can try to move the ffxiv folder in documents/my games to desktop.

I'm having the same issue. The config.exe crashes no matter what I try to change. I know of many other people that have the same issue. I have tried reinstalling the game and everything you can think of and nothing works. of the people that I talked to about this issue, there is nothing in common about our computers, ISP, or even geographic location, lol. We have tried so many things that I just gave up on the issue. some people are stuck in windowed mode, and some are stuck in full screen, like me. I cant change any graphical settings, it really pisses me off when someone copies and pastes a link in chat and I cant copy and paste as well. I WILL NOT type out a url that is 100+ characters long just to look up some resource that someone found. SE please fix this...
