Yes. Welcome to 2015 and vertical progression.
Sitting on your ass for 15 hours a day running entire zones of mobs to rez that one guy because he doesn't want to run back is "complex". Staring at 40 other people shooting frostbolts at a mob in a raid for hours is "complex". Hours long AV matches are so "complex". Taking a party of people sitting around for an open world rare spawn is so "complex". Farming that one green sword to kill a lv 3 rat because the terrible development team forgot to scale down the rat's stats a bit to more reasonable levels is so "complex" (or just bad game design). Let me google this rotation...wow, that 5 second search was so "complex".
I think you confuse the concept of time sinks and complexity a bit too much. Taking off the rose tint helps alleviate that problem...
It has nothing to do with throwing around open ended political terms attempting to be "edgy", nor does it have anything to do with mobile technology which bad game developers use to advertise. (As if this was a business, gasp!) Good attempt at the broad, and failed, generalization though.
It has to do with the fact that Accuracy, at it's core in game design, is a terrible stat. Anyone who cares for the game will have it at 100%, no way around it. There is no crazy math or thought behind it. There is a number, you reach it. This game offers no choices in gear. There are one or two items per ilvl in which the stat difference is so miniscule, there is no point in even wasting time thinking about it (But hey, you have a hard on for time sinks, have at it.). It's a waste of time and programming that could be used to push the gamer to spending more time on actual content rather than staring at a character sheet wondering how spending 3 million gil on melds is a good reason to get that extra 2 accuracy because RNG is bad.
But hey. Go ahead and rationalize how old school stuff was better. Not like they're still around making money, grabbing new players, or anything exciting. Heaven forbid we change things for the better for once.
Give us more spell/skill speed caps that actually do something to a class other than MNK and NIN. Make it affect DoT's. Make DET affect Crit damage or something similar rather than making it a ghetto version of your main stat.
Or continue to complain about how I should be able to miss Demon Wall and Dwarf Fortress is the best MMO ever made, damn kids. Your choice.
