I would argue that one does not have to be 'immersed' in a game to have fun with it."Molly Millions", if that is your real name, most people play games for fun. And I guess immersion contributes to fun. Or at the very least, it contributes to engagement.
And anyway, maybe if the game was sooooo utterly immersive, then nobody would even need a life, because they could just live in FFXIV.
Ain't that the goal?
It seems to me that folks toss around this argument, because they have no other logical argument for their ideas/preferences.
