This is worse by actually removing a game mechanic. It solves nothing in terms of immersion and actually goes against the current lore. The airship should be more than just transportation, just like a truck can be utilized for more than transportation (haul, tow, etc.).
The airship being instant does nothing for immersion either, it litteraly is just as immersion breaking as a 0 anima warp. They can't explain away how two people board the same airship and arrive at a latter date. Unless they split the harbor to be able to dock two ships, one with jets and one thats moved by the sheer power of slowness. This is worse by actually removing a game mechanic. Unfortunatly neither make sense... The airships are currently a redundancy that's not needed until they add content.

Just hop into my airship moiunted crossbow whilst I point it at Gridania, and the truth shall be revealed.

When you spend 5 years doing your damnest to keep a happy and care-free view of a game like Warcraft whilst at the same time being bombarded by insults from every side of it's community just because you decided to be a fire mage, you eventually learn to respond to everything in a light-hearted and humorous tone.
So instead of poking at the broken parts of the game with an angry stick, it's more fun to find some silly comedy means to explain that it is not broken, it simply works in a way you never thought of.
I agree and i too try to fill the gaps in with a shrug or a laugh, however there's nothing wrong with wanting this game to aspire to great heights. I have played FF since 1 on the Nintendo when i was 4 so call me a fan boy or not i have great expectations and traditional game formula expectations making me bi-est to a degree. But that's why I'm here i have hopes that all problems will get hammered out in a year or two! When you spend 5 years doing your damnest to keep a happy and care-free view of a game like Warcraft whilst at the same time being bombarded by insults from every side of it's community just because you decided to be a fire mage, you eventually learn to respond to everything in a light-hearted and humorous tone.

I understand, I too am biased towards wanting to see this game aspire to many things. I enjoy it's gameplay, I enjoy it's graphical quality, I enjoy the complexity of crafting, and the wonderfull music, and being able to finally play as a cat-girl on an mmo that isn't old, dead or empty.I agree and i too try to fill the gaps in with a shrug or a laugh, however there's nothing wrong with wanting this game to aspire to great heights. I too also posses most Final Fantasy games, even going so far as to hunt down a re-release copy of Ehrgeiz that came with the 'dungeon crawl' addition, because I am rarely dissapointed with a Squaresoft/Square Enix game (Final Fantasy 12 being the only one I can actually think of) so I put faith in their ability to not only fix this game but boost it to new levels. (I did in fact buy Final Fantasy XI on release day in the U.K, however I didn't write down my Play Online ID number and a week after installing it I had to format my computer, rendering me incapable of continuing to play it, and I couldn't find it in stores anymore to buy another copy, nor did I want to at the time as I was still using a good old 56k modem and the game was just plain lag)
However given that certain elements of the game aren't going to be fixed for a while, it's easier to poke fun at it than to say "It's ok, don't worry, give it about a year and they'll fix it." because that tends to only infuriate them more.
The mass relays are truly the most incredible achievement the people of Eorzea have ever made.
FTFYbeing bombarded by insults from every side of it's community just because you decided to be a frost mage in PvE
*Game uses jedi mind trick on you*
*You now think you have instantly moved from Ul'dah to Gridania, when in reality you have been staring at the T.V screen for the last 5 minutes like a zombie*
Ah yes good point (b'.')b
Oh, but blizz buffed up frost mages to be better than fire mages in pve, they're actually a USABLE spec in raids now! :O
Hell has frozen over!
It was the mages that did it!
