There would be many more worthwhile things I could do with the muscle and lean physique if I did not have to waste time acquiring it.
Psychologically speaking sometimes the quests becomes greater then the goal (yet the goal remains important). If your life had an auto skip button you wouldn't have much of a life at all. These excuses for not wanting to spend time to gain focused goals boils down to nothing but this tactful word laziness. Your id personality is that of i want everything now because the goal is fun (instant gratification) not the quest (work), and that's not healthy. If you really want a game like that I'm fairly certain GW has a feature like that, however implementing what you advocate fully into a game would spell disaster.
I do not argue that you would have less fun with your explained mechanics (its your personal preference) what i argue is that your explained mechanics are detrimental to the game as a whole.
The Principle of progression is important because you want people to progress academically, socially and developmentally. Think of progression as growth, whether it be social, academic, physical, what have you. It also indicates adaptation to new situations, material, responsibilities and tasks, which are all important in developing a massive gaming community. Without progression we have idle minds that become stagnant which indicates lack of growth or regression. Of course im speaking of regression as a reversion to an earlier or less mature pattern of feeling, behavior, logic, and even overall psyche.
